Today is the 80th anniversary of the infamous Pearl Harbor attacks. Many lives were lost, and many others were deeply affected by this tragic event. Today VBM honors and remembers all servicemembers and civilians who lost their lives and were injured as a result of this act.

It is with a heavy heart that VBM honors the late Colin Powell, a decorated veteran who served 35 years in the Army, including two combat tours in Vietnam. Born in New York City on April 5, 1937, Powell was a decorated US statesman, serving as national security advisor, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and perhaps most notably as the US Secretary of State, where he broke barriers as the first African-American to hold that position. He is survived by his wife Alma and three children, Michael, Linda, and Annemarie.

As the 20th Anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attack approaches, we would like to encourage everyone to remember the lives lost as a result of this act. Our hearts go out to the families affected by this tragedy.
