With the holiday season in full swing, the Rockland County Department of Health (RCDOH) reminds drivers about the dangers of impaired driving. In fact, every day in the United States someone dies every 42 minutes in a drunk-driving crash. Data shows that drunk and impaired driving, caused by illegal drugs or prescription medications, significantly increases during the holidays.

December is a dangerous month for drunk driving. Almost 1,000 people died in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes each December from 2019 to 2023.
