COVID-19 vaccines for both adolescents (age 12+) and younger children (age 5-11 years) are available at Pomona Pediatrics during regular office hours. If these times are a problem, vaccines will be available this Saturday 11/13 in the morning--please call for an appointment!

The COVID-19 vaccine for children age 5-11 should be approved shortly, and Pomona Pediatrics is prepared to administer the vaccine to our patients in that age group (we also administer the vaccine to those age 12+, of course!) Once the final CDC approval is granted, we will be scheduling appointments. (And we will be rolling out self-scheduling for this vaccine ONLY via Phreesia--stay tuned for more information!)

We are expecting the approval of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children age 12 years and up some time in the next week. Pomona Pediatrics will receive vaccine once that approval is granted, and we will be making the vaccine available for all of our patients in that age group. (We will also vaccinate parents who need the vaccine when they come to the office with their children.) Stay tuned for additional information, including available times for vaccination and scheduling your children's appointments.

Covid 19 Vaccines for patients 16+ with comorbidities

Registration for COVID-19 vaccine appointments in New York State is now open for individuals ages 16 and older with comorbidities/the following conditions (see list below).

Please note: BCHP offices have not been allocated vaccines for patients yet.

You can check your eligibility and appointment availability and schedule your vaccine at this link: https://am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/

Vaccine appointments can also be made by contacting the New York State COVID-19 vaccine hotline at 833-697-4829.

Your clinician’s office can work with you on proof of eligibility for your child if they fall under this category. Please contact your pediatrician or specialist if you have questions about whether your child is eligible.

BCHP strongly believes in the safety and efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines and encourages all patients and their families to get vaccinated when it is their turn.

Individuals ages 16+ with the following comorbidities/conditions are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine:

Cancer (current or in remission, including 9/11-related cancers)
Chronic kidney disease
Pulmonary disease, including but not limited to COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), asthma (moderate-to-severe), pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, and 9/11-related pulmonary diseases
Intellectual and developmental disabilities including Down syndrome
Heart conditions, including but not limited to heart failure, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathies, or hypertension (high blood pressure)
Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system), including but not limited to solid organ transplant or from blood or bone marrow transplant, immune deficiencies, HIV, use of corticosteroids, use of other immune weakening medicines, or other causes
Severe obesity (body mass index of 40 kg/m2 or higher), obesity (body mass index of between 30 kg/m2 and 40 kg/m2)
Pregnancy
Sickle cell disease or thalassemia
Type 1 or 2 diabetes mellitus
Cerebrovascular disease (affects blood vessels and blood supply to the brain)
Neurologic conditions including but not limited to Alzheimer's disease or dementia
Liver disease
