The Pottenger’s Cat’s Study showed that it takes four generations to send population of cats extinct on processed food.

Pottenger, was previously studying how tuberculosis was caused by deficiencies in the adrenal gland and, to test the hypothesis, he experimented with cats. Pottenger fed cats compared groups fed raw meat and those with cooked/processed food products.

To his astonishment, he observed stark outcomes.

When I first came across Pottenger’s work, I was intrigued. Most who read Pottenger’s Cats find it alarming how the fourth generation of cats became extinct. But as a dentist, my focus then went to the cat’s teeth.

The change to the cat’s diet resulted in just one generation turned perfectly straight teeth and pink gums, to crooked, deformed mouths, bent sinuses, and red, inflamed gums.

All of this occurred in the first generation on the shifted diet. The teeth were the canary in the coalmine.

The health of cats fed cooked/processed foods became dire.

Progressive issues included:
•Behavior issues
•Poor energy
•Anxiety
• Allergies
• Poor coat quality

In the next generation calcium and phosphorus levels, skeletal structures, and dispositions of the cats all continued to plummet.

By the third generation the calcium content in the bones had withered down to 3%, their bones turned to dust.

The litters were stillborn.

Meanwhile for the control group, the cats carried their babies to full-term, birthed approximately five kittens to a litter with no dental issues or infections.

It took Pottenger four generations on a normal diet in order to return the cats to normal health.

Can you see any similarities in our society today?

The signs show first in our mouth, then resonate through all of the other organ systems.

Cats need raw meats, that's what their digestive system is desgned to eat.

For humans, we need cooked, animal foods, especially the organs, and including the cartilaginous bones.

Parents today are faced with kids who are only one generation into the healing process. However our modern healthcare CAN fix the issue, if we understand how to apply it correctly.

What did you take from Pottenger’s Cats?

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”~Hippocrates

Now more than ever it is the time to focus on supporting our bodies with nutrient dense food!
We really need to be mindful about what we are feeding our bodies....this means binging on sugar, alcohol and television is not ideal. All of these things will lower your immune system and we are looking to boost it!

High quality grass fed meat is rich in amino acids that support detoxification and respiratory health....bone broth is a ideal for this!

Getting in foods that contain D,C,A and zinc are crucial for your immune system. You can find those in foods like, grassfed butter and meat, pasture raised egg yolks, wild caught fatty fish, oysters, sardines, liver and other organ meats, cod-liver oil, nuts and seeds, legumes, asparagus, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, avacados, citrus fruits and peppers.( this isn't the complete list but a start)

Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated to keep everything functioning but be careful to avoid sugary juices....best to drink your water and eat your fruit. Herbal teas are a great option! Ginger tea is wonderful for digestion and tulsi tea is good for its calming effects if your feeling anxious.

Aim for some form of daily movement that makes you sweat and keeps your lymph flowing. HIIT, yoga, strength training, pilates and walking are all good choices. Get outside in the sun if possible too.

Get 7-9 hours of sleep every night. Your body needs adequate sleep to repair itself.

Remember to keep a healthy state of mind. You can do this with daily gratitude practices, deep breathing or meditation techniques.
Choose designated times to look at social media or media in general.....scrolling all day or watching the news isn't healthy and can contribute to feeling anxious or overwhelmed. Try to focus on the things you have control over. Maybe you can do some unfinished projects, get a jump on spring cleaning, read a book you have been wanting to read and spend quality time with your family.

And of course practice good hygiene!

I hope this helps, these are things that we are doing in our home. Remember being stressed, drinking alcohol, eating poor quality food and missing out on sleep all contribute to poor health.

It's been a gradual process switching over my recipes to primarily Weston Price but very worth it!

Although I have been soaking flours and all my legumes and rice for some time, I had not ventured down the sourdough path....until now.

A friend of mine gifted me a start and I am so excited to be able to experiment with it! Next week someone else will give me a gluten free start, I am extremely excited about this as it's been many years since I have tasted it! I can hardly wait since I am much more for savory food than sweets!

Grains are highly inflammitory for people dealing with chronic illness, however if tolerated, the method for preparing them is crucial to ones health.

If this peaks your interest, look up Weston Price and learn about his travels and the importance of traditional diets and how they effect your health.
