CCC-SLP, graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Master's Degree in Communicative Disorders in 2001. I have been practicing speech therapy with the pediatric population for 20 years, and have specialized in early intervention, and various disabilities including Down Syndrome, Autism, Apraxia, Feeding Disorders, phonological disorders, and early language development. I am PROMPT trained, Kaufman trained, SOS trained, and Talk Tools trained, and continue to update my continuing education with a variety of coursework. I am partnered with some amazing therapists, including Nancy Marin, OTR/L, of Occuplay, Inc., Kris Owen, PT with Intentional Play, Inc., and Behavior Builders.

OFFERING CHILDREN CONTROLLED CHOICES CAN HAVE MANY BENEFITS

Letting children make choices can start at an early age which, gives them the opportunity to be part of making decisions.

Notice the differences between tantrum and sensory meltdown!

A sensory meltdown is when our brain is maxed out on sensations and can’t take anymore. Another way to think of it is sensory overload, which is why you might also hear the phrases sensory overload meltdown or even overstimulation meltdown.
