💡 Struggling with reading and spelling isn’t just about letters on a page — it’s about how the brain and body work together.
When kids strengthen their sensory-motor system (the connection between mouth movements, speech, and sound), reading and spelling can suddenly feel easier and less frustrating. 🌈📖

Hope is real. With the right approach, kids don’t just get by — they shine. ✨💪

A study by Dr. Helen Norman from the University of Leeds shows that fathers who spend time reading, drawing, playing, telling stories, or singing with their young children greatly help their kids succeed in school.

The research looked at almost 5,000 families in England, focusing on children born between 2000 and 2002.

It found that when dads gave quality time to their three-year-olds, those children did better in school by age five and continued to score higher at age seven.

The results were the same for all children, no matter their gender, family income, or background. While mothers had a bigger impact on social and emotional growth, fathers made a special difference in education—even with just ten minutes daily.

This mom wrote a complete week x week progress blog:https://www.disablingdyslexia.com
about how much her son’s and daughter’s dyslexia changed from severe struggles into powerful strengths in 4 months at The Morris Center in Ocala FL using the NOW! Programs courses & OT & psych (NOW! Programs are available online with live and a highly trained team of instructors and mentors too) to empower reading, spelling and more.
This mom’s blog ends with an update 2 years after her daughter and son completed the NOW! Programs Dyslexia course.

Here’s a quote:
“Finally, it was her teacher’s turn. Her words: “Hi. I’m Mrs. Dickerson and I teach 5th grade literacy. My top literacy students are (student 1), (student 2), (student 3), Avery Martin, and (student 5). AVERY MARTIN??? Is this really happening? Both of our mouths dropped open a little. As she walked towards the stage, I sat in silence, taking in every second. When her teacher hugged her, I saw her face brek out in a smile and my eyes filled up with tears. I watched in awe as she made her way back to me. I heard the giggle she makes and I saw the blush on her cheeks, both tell-tell signs when she’s flattered. Her words when she sat down? “The literacy award?? I was NOT expecting that!” Me neither, sister. We both couldn’t stop smiling for the rest of the ceremony. “

Our Journey at The Morris Center

08/29/2025

Join us NOW! as Amanda Wright shares the remarkable journey of her son, Asher, from struggling to recognize letters in kindergarten to thriving as an eighth grader with new confidence, options, and a bright future.

As a young child, Asher was inquisitive, energetic, and “all boy”—he loved being active and outside, with no interest in sitting to color or practice letters. The only time he would sit still was to listen to his mom read books. While in private kindergarten, it became clear he was having great difficulty with writing and didn’t know many letters. He was miserable and begged to stay home. Despite starting occupational therapy, his handwriting didn’t improve, and Amanda was told to practice letters more at home. Highly trained as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Amanda knew she had no training about learning difficulties or dyslexia and was puzzled and very concerned by Asher’s struggles. She did not want her child to hate school and knew he had to develop essential academic skills to be successful in school too - he was plenty smart enough, that was abundantly evident from just talking to him.

The family then moved Asher to a Montessori school, where caring teachers helped him enjoy school again—but things still didn’t “click.” At age 7, he was privately tested and diagnosed with dyslexia and dysgraphia. A highly qualified tutor began working with him several times a week using Orton-Gillingham methods, but after a year his phonological awareness had barely improved. The tutor admitted progress was painfully slow and, by chance, the tutor had met Dr. Tim Conway. She asked if she could share Asher’s testing results with him, believing he might be able to help. Soon after, Amanda and her husband reached out to Dr. Conway and brought Asher to The Morris Center (TMC) in Ocala, Florida.

Through TMC’s high-frequency, evidence-based and research-based interventions to empower language, sensory, motor, attention/focus, literacy and more Asher made transformative progress. At age 7, Amanda says “The first time I ever saw him catch a ball was at TMC!!” Asher’s developmental challenges were not just Dyslexia, but included ADHD, Dyscalculia, sensory and motor skills too. However, today, 5 years after he attended The Morris Center for 5 months, Asher is thriving in 8th grade at his local public school. He no longer requires an IEP, attends regular classes, and enjoys school. While he keeps a 504 plan that provides extra time on tests, he rarely uses it. His spelling can still be a challenge without his laptop, but it is now phonetic and legible—something that was once impossible.

Amanda reflects on the incredible difference: TMC not only gave Asher the skills he needed, but also gave their family peace of mind and hope for his future. As she says, “No more constant worrying!!” TMC opened so many more options for Asher. NOW, Amanda and her husband are certain that with his grit and work ethic, Asher has the skills to do anything he sets his mind to!

Don’t miss this week’s inspiring story of transformation, grit, and empowerment—proof that with a scientifically tested and proven intervention from www.NOWprograms.com and provided at www.TheMorrisCenter.com, children with dyslexia and dysgraphia can unlock their true potential and end years and years of struggles and not need more tutoring.
