Whether you are dealing with a life change, relationship issue, anxiety, depression, trauma, or other concern, I am devoted to helping you take control of your life. I provide acceptance, warmth, privacy, and encouragement in a supportive, comfortable setting to promote emotional health for your personal growth. It is my true belief that each individual has the resources to rise above many of life's challenges through assisting client's with solution oriented strategies to promote wellness. Every single person has the capacity to strive for something greater; but it is a choice, not something that happens automatically. My goal as a counselor is to help my clients discover personal strengths that will help them overcome obstacles, uncover new paths, and learn new tools to improve mental health and well-being for a lifetime. I offer a culturally sensitive approach, with clients from a wide variety of backgrounds. I specialize in helping families, couples, children and individuals improve communication and closeness. I also work with people struggling with depression, addiction, anger management or anxiety related to trauma, which can include but not limited to childhood or adult experiences of abuse, neglect or domestic violence. I also have years of experience working with children and teens on a variety of school and home issues, especially surrounding divorce, abuse, self esteem, depression, anxiety, and family relationships. Parents are closely involved with their child's therapy. With my youngest clients, I use play and art to engage children which is fun and therapeutic for them. I earned my MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University in 2014, and my BA in Education from Augustana College in 1992. My work experience includes providing therapy to a diverse population in home, school, and office settings. I operate on a sliding scale basis, fees negotiable depending on individual circumstances.
