Your body has natural systems designed to detoxify and heal, but those systems depend on two key things:
- Proper nervous system function
- The right nutritional support

Chiropractic care helps optimize nerve communication and joint movement, while good nutrition provides the fuel your body needs to reduce inflammation and manage pain naturally.

When patients combine chiropractic care with healthier food choices, many experience:
- Reduced inflammation
- Less muscle and joint pain
- Improved mobility
- Better overall energy and recovery

Simple steps, like drinking more water, eating whole foods, and limiting processed sugars, can make a noticeable difference, especially when paired with regular chiropractic care.

Celebrating Chiropractic Black History
Harvey Lillard, suffered from hearing loss after an incident where he was in a cramped, stooping position and felt something pop in his spine. He immediately noticed the hearing loss and sought out the advice of many doctors over the years. None of these doctors were able to help him and he eventually gave up on ever hearing normally again. D.D. Palmer was intrigued by his case and Harvey agreed to an adjustment. Harvey’s hearing was restored and just so happened to be the first ever adjustment performed in the field of chiropractic. The date widely accepted for this incident is September 18, 1895. We owe the birth of chiropractic care to this brave man!

Travel is one of life’s great joys—whether you’re heading north for a Pure Michigan getaway, visiting family, or flying off for a well‑deserved vacation, but your spine is designed for movement, not prolonged sitting. Extended periods of sitting—especially in awkward or unsupported positions—can place stress on the neck, shoulders, lower back, and hips. Over time, this can lead to muscle tension, joint irritation, headaches, and even nerve discomfort. Long hours behind the wheel or cramped airplane seats can take a toll on your body if you’re not careful. Chiropractic care focuses on keeping the spine properly aligned and moving well, which helps your nervous system function optimally. When your spine is healthy, your body handles travel stress far more effectively. Many patients schedule a chiropractic visit before traveling. A pre‑trip adjustment can:
Improve spinal mobility
Reduce muscle tension
Help your body adapt more easily to long periods of sitting
This proactive approach may also lower your risk of travel‑related aches and pains—and help you enjoy your trip more fully.

Regular chiropractic visits can be an important part of a healthy lifestyle—supporting mobility, posture, spinal health, and overall function.
Rather than waiting until discomfort interferes with daily life, many people choose routine chiropractic care as a way to stay active, aligned, and feeling their best throughout the year.
If you’re looking for a wellness-focused goal that supports everything else you do—movement, recovery, and stress management—this could be the year to make it a habit.

Stress is part of life, but how we manage it matters. Chronic stress can take a toll on the body and nervous system.
Stress-reduction goals might include:
- Practicing deep breathing or meditation
- Spending more time outdoors
- Making space for hobbies, connection, and downtime
- Caring for your mental well-being is just as important as caring for your physical health.

Move more everyday! You don’t need a gym membership or marathon goals to benefit from movement. Regular physical activity supports joint health, mobility, posture, and overall wellness.
Try this in the New Year:
- Take daily walks or stretch breaks
- Find activities you enjoy—yoga, swimming, biking, or strength training
- Commit to movement that fits your lifestyle and schedule
- The best exercise is the one you’ll actually stick with.

Nourish your body with intention. Healthy eating doesn’t have to mean strict diets or deprivation. Instead, aim for balance and consistency. Small changes made consistently often lead to the biggest improvements.
New Year resolution ideas:
- Add more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to your meals
- Stay hydrated throughout the day
- Practice mindful eating—slow down and listen to your body

Our Story

Service is the word that comes to mind when I think of what is most important to me. It has been my honor to serve patients in my office since 1994. Chiropractic is more to me than just straightening spines. It is about assisting our patients in achieving a better quality of life through optimal nervous system function. To me it is also important to serve your profession no matter what profession that might be. I have served on the board for our state chiropractic association for 5 years. I continue to serve on several committees that help to ensure that chiropractic care will be available to the people of Michigan far into the future. I think it is a blessing for anyone to receive recognition for the work they do. I have been humbled to receive several awards from the Michigan Chiropractic Society including Chiropractor of the Year as well as the Presidential Leadership Award. One of my greatest joys is serving as an extension faculty member of Palmer University. This gives me the opportunity to assist students in their final year of Chiropractic College prepare to enter the health delivery system. It is important that physicians realize the great responsibility that we have placed upon us as our patients allow us to participate in the most valuable aspect of their lives….. their health.
