08/22/2025

Richard Allen Blair Jr., 62, of Pontiac, Illinois, passed from this world at 4:00 P.M. on August 20, 2025, at his home in Pontiac, Il. He fought a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer through treatments and surgeries for the past two years.
Richard was born January 29, 2025, in Pontiac, Il., the son of Richard A. and Linda (Steimle) Blair. He attended Pontiac schools and graduated from Pontiac High School in the class of 1981. After high school he enlisted in the Unted States Air Force, serving in North and South Dakota and in Michigan. He retired as a tech sergeant, working his entire career in mistle maintenance.
Rick had a very unique outlook on life which could change very rapidly. He had a brilliant mind and each new endeavor he planned with research; he studied and bought the proper equipment and supplies to start. From remote controlled planes to chickens and ducks, with firework shows completely choreographed and brewing beer, he dug in deeply to do it right. He was a hunter with beautiful taxidermy mounts of many conquests including antelope, wood ducks and many species of deer.
Richard seemed to enjoy arguing, usually making good points for his beliefs. At times, it appeared that his beliefs would change just so he could argue. His argumentative side seldom allowed his kind and caring side to be exposed, but it was definitely there.
He is survived by his brother, Thomas (Cindy Gschwendtner) Blair and their children, Maggie, Logan (Mackenzie) and Casey (Rebekah) Blair, plus nieces and nephews, Ava, Landon, Kimber, Brynne and Ruthie, as well as his special friend Jonni Kettman.
Per Richard’s wishes there will be no services, and his body will be cremated with his ashes to be spread at his favorite places. The family will conduct a Celebration of Life Service at a later date. Grieving the hardest will be the beer makers, breweries, distributors and liquor stores, there will be a drastic drop in their profits. He certainly did love his beer. Rest in Peace Richard, hope they are ready for a trip when you get there.
