His advice for his kids and grands was to be sure to find the job you “get” to go to, rather than a job you “have” to go to.

Bill was a sports enthusiast. Playing fast-pitch softball, coaching his childrens’ teams, working the chain gang for PTHS football, and participating in mens golf league were some of his favorite hobbies. These things were in a close second to his love for traveling with his high school sweetheart, and love of his life, Kathy. They enjoyed so many travel adventures together!

Bill was humbled to be the recipient the Agribusiness Person of the Year award in 2004. He served as an alderman for the City of Pontiac for over 40 years. Above all, his greatest joy in life was his family. From cuddling on the couch, cheering from the bleachers, giving many golf cart rides, or sharing his wit and humor, we were all privileged to be his. Bill’s kind heart did not know a stranger and he spread his love and loyalty in all his actions. He was an avid golfer and spent as much time golfing after retirement as he could. Living and playing on the Pontiac Elks Golf Course was such a joy for him. Card club with his friends was also one of his favorite pastimes. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him and called him family or friend. His family holds all of his stories and memories in their hearts and knows he is sharing them all with his buddies in the “board room” in heaven.

Memorials in Bill’s memory may be made to Pontiac Elks Scholarship Fund, St. Mary’s, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
