We wanted to take a moment to really celebrate the success of another great Summer Slam back to school event in the neighborhood. We gave out 400 backpacks with school supplies this year in addition to clothes, food, hygiene products, and more. We had great vendors including PAL, Oakland Forward, Honor Community Health, and Consumers Energy who was also the lead sponsor for this event. Shout out as well to BorgWarner Inc. for supplying and grilling the food!

Enjoy the photos of the event

Honor Community Health was thrilled to be a part of School-Community Health Alliance of Michigan's 2022 Advocacy Day, helping to put the spotlight on and all the support it provides to improve the health and well-being of our students.

Our team here at Honor had the chance to meet with a handful of our local state legislators to discuss the need for additional, ongoing funding which would help establish 100 additional school-based health centers across the state. Thank you so much to those who took the time to meet with our team, including Senator Rosemary Bayer, State Representative Mark Tisdel, State Representative Regina Weiss, State Representative Brenda Carter and Senator Ruth Johnson.

SLEEP MORE
Sleeping restores the body, helps decrease stress and increases overall happiness. To reap the full benefits, clocking seven hours each night is key. A calming bedtime routine and going to bed and waking at the same time each day are all great ways to establish healthy sleep patterns. Getting ample sunshine and physical activity throughout the day also aid in improving sleep quality. – BioIQ.com

LIMIT JUNK
To reap the full benefits of a heart-healthy diet, it’s important to limit intake of nutrient-poor junk foods. Added sugars, saturated fat and excessive sodium can all negatively impact heart health, as well as overall physical health.
