Last week, some of our Prevention Team had the incredible opportunity to attend the CADCA Mid-Year Conference in Washington, D.C. 🌟

While there, we were honored to meet with Representative Jason Smith to discuss important prevention work happening in Southeast Missouri. Our team had the chance to dive into conversations about substance use trends and share insights on how we can better serve our community.

We’re excited to apply what we’ve learned and continue working toward a healthier, safer Southeast Missouri!

Mental Health Monday: Did you Know? ⤵️
•Approximately 1 in 8 men experience depression in their lifetime.
•Men are also less likely to seek help for depression, with only 1 in 3 men receiving treatment.
•Men are less likely than women to recognize and talk about symptoms of anxiety, often attributing it to stress or physical issues.

These stats show how important it is to break the stigma around mental health in men. Let’s encourage open conversations, offer support, and help men access the resources they need. 🙌

Taking the step to seek help can be life-changing. Don’t wait. Your mental health matters, and there’s no shame in reaching out. 🌟

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and made “The Cop and The Counselor: A Front-Line Wellness Story” such an incredible event! 🙏

A special shoutout to our amazing keynote speakers Matt and Jody, who shared their powerful insights on the importance of mental wellness in frontline careers. And his wife Jessica whom gave her perspective of being the spouse of a law enforcement officer experiencing trauma.

We also want to thank our presenters:

✨Rick Stevens for highlighting command concerns

✨Michelle for shedding light on the critical role of Critical Incident Support Management teams.

✨Missouri State Highway Patrol for kicking off the event with their Honor Guard.

And of course, a big thank you to everyone who attended and our partners whom took the time have resource booths for attendees to visit and gather resources from. It was amazing to connect and share resources, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to foster understanding and break down the stigma around mental health working on the frontline.

Let’s continue supporting each other as we move forward in our front-line roles! 💙

Mental Health Monday: You Are Not Alone 🌿

Did you know that 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year? That’s over 993,000 adults right here in Missouri, which is more than 3 times the population of St. Louis.

Mental health challenges don’t just affect adults. 1 in 6 U.S. youth aged 6–17 experience a mental health disorder annually. In Missouri, 68,000 teens struggle with depression alone.

It’s important to remember: You are not alone. No matter what you’re going through, support is out there. Here are 5 things you can do if you’re struggling with your mental health:

It’s okay to seek help and take steps towards feeling better. Reach out to someone you trust or a professional, and remember: mental health matters.

🌟 Did You Know? Myth vs. Fact Wednesday 🌟

🚫 MYTH:
1. Addiction is just a lack of willpower.
2. Willpower alone can break a bad habit.
3. Recovery is a quick process.

✅ FACT:
Addiction is a disease that affects the brain — it’s NOT about weak willpower. Breaking habits is tough and usually needs more than just willpower; it requires effort, support, and sometimes professional help. Recovery is a long-term journey, involving therapy, support, and lifestyle changes. It’s not a quick fix, but a lifelong commitment to well-being.
