💻📱 How Does Blue Light Affect Your Eyes?

Blue light is a type of light emitted from digital screens like phones, tablets, computers, and TVs. While we are exposed to blue light naturally from the sun, long periods of screen use can lead to digital eye strain.

Common effects of too much blue light exposure include:
• Eye strain and fatigue
• Dry or irritated eyes
• Blurred vision
• Headaches
• Difficulty falling asleep due to disrupted sleep cycles

Many people spend several hours a day looking at screens, which can make these symptoms more noticeable.

Tips to reduce blue light strain:
✔ Follow the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes look 20 feet away for 20 seconds)
✔ Adjust screen brightness and lighting
✔ Take regular breaks from screens
✔ Consider blue light filtering lenses

At Divine Family Eye Care, we can help you find solutions to keep your eyes comfortable while using digital devices.

👁️ What Is a Lazy Eye?

A lazy eye, also called amblyopia, occurs when one eye does not develop normal vision during childhood. The brain begins to favor the stronger eye, which can cause the weaker eye to have reduced vision.

Lazy eye usually develops in infants and young children, and early detection is very important.

Common causes include:
• Eyes that are not aligned properly (crossed or wandering eye)
• Large difference in prescription between the two eyes
• One eye being more blurry than the other
• Blocked vision from conditions like droopy eyelids or cataracts

Signs parents may notice:
• One eye drifting inward or outward
• Squinting or closing one eye
• Poor depth perception
• A child tilting their head to see better

The good news is that lazy eye can often be treated successfully when caught early.

At Divine Family Eye Care, regular eye exams help detect vision problems early so children can develop healthy vision.
