Hello everyone, my name is Steve Hargis (The tool guy for the “Dream Playground”). I am still looking for lots of Loaner tools for this years Dream Playground build. Click on the below Link to get you to the Playground website, from there you will see two links (one for volunteers and another for “Lend A Tool” )

sign-up on the link so I know what tools are coming my way
Drop them off on the scheduled date/times listed on the “Lend A Tool” site M, W, F and Sat 2-3pm at the Brand new “Angeles Rentals, Equipment & Supply” store located in the old Sears store on Lincoln Street (I will be located at the rear of the store in the back parking lot).

If you have any questions at all; or just want to stop by and say Hi, I will be there with Chris Rumple (Our new additional tool guy).

Thanks for the Fantastic photo Jay! I got stationed, while in the CoastGuard, at the end of Ediz hook as shown so beautifly in this photo! I love MT Baker in the back ground nearly 100 miles away. It’s no wonder, with views like this in our backyard, that I decided to make Port Angeles my home. Steve H.

THIS SATURDAY! Volunteers will once again be at the covered picnic area at Erickson playfield, next to the Dream Playground build site, to return engraved pickets from the original build to their owners.

If you missed the news, the Winter Ice Village took a fatal blow when the weight of all the snow destroyed the tent over the ice Wednesday morning at 2am.

Well here is the latest update:

Do you believe in a “Miracle on Ice”. They did in 1980 when team USA beat the Soviet Union in the upset of all Hockey! Im not saying all the Volunteers that made the Winter Ice Village come back alive is as much of a miracle as the 1980 Winter Olympics, but what a miracle!

Over the last couple days, dozens of volunteers helped shovel snow from the collapsed tent, remove the tent and debris from the ice, and finally repaired the ice surface. Thank you Port Angeles, what a GREAT Community we live in!

The Winter ice village opens tomorrow at 9am. Come on down some time this weekend (or every day through Monday). The Winter Ice Village is OPEN!

The Three Little Pigs are looking for kids at the Farmers' Market! The Weavers will have their trailer of pigs parked along the market on Front Street. Come join the fun and see the piglets from Wild Edge Farm. At the market booth the Weavers will be offering "Free Corn for Kids"

This is the best time of year to shop at your Port Angeles Farmers Market

Looking to cook a nice dinner this weekend?
Come on down to the Market and pick up a nice grass fed beef steak (the tenderloin or rib steaks are incredible) and don’t forget the beautiful summer chanterelle mushrooms and fresh picked corn on the cob to go on the side. The Salad fixin’s are in full swing - Lettuces, heirloom tomatoes, cucumber, onions, beets - oh my; and there are still plenty of peaches, plums, pears, gravenstein apples and even figs!

Tomorrow is the last day of National Farmers Market Week!

It’s not too late to get your tickets for the Olympic Cellars Winery Concert Series Saturday night August 10th ($13 at brown paper tickets vs $15 at the door). We have over a dozen Farmers Market Volunteers helping to put on a great night of food, drink, and entertainment by the Stacy Jones Band. This Fundraiser will directly benefit The Port Angeles Farmers Market from the sales of Tickets!

Doors open at 6pm with the music beginning at 7pm, hope to see you there.

Senior Day and Swingers at your Port Angeles Farmers Market this Saturday

Senior Day at the Market:
OlyCap will be at the market to distribute Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers; the PAFM will provide an additional $10 in tokens to the first 20 voucher holders who come to the manager’s booth. ( Note: normally recipients must make a trip to OlyCap to pick up their vouchers before going to the Market ; this way they can just pick them directly at the market as transportation can be an issue for a lot of seniors).

The Port Angeles Senior Swingers dance club will do a dance exhibition to the music of The Cat’s Meow from 11:00-12:30!!

Wild Edge Farm is this weeks featured Farm:
This week they will have white and purple cauliflower and fennel! They will also have their usual assortment of luscious head lettuce, tender broccolini, spinach, radishes and red and gold beets! Yum!

Also at the Market: Snow Peas, Snap Peas, and Shelling Peas; Spinach; Raspberries; Collard Greens; Summer Chantrelle Mushrooms; plus a wide variety of Lettuces and more.
