Several clients have been asking how my dad is doing, so I wanted to share a little update here.
I know many of you weren’t aware of what’s been going on, as I haven’t widely shared it, so here’s a quick recap. My 83-year-old dad went in for major back surgery on October 23rd. It was a two-part surgery, with the second procedure on October 30th. He actually did very well with both surgeries, but afterward it was discovered that he had undiagnosed ulcers. This led to internal bleeding and another emergency procedure to locate and cauterize the bleed.
Unfortunately, it was all too much for his body. He ended up in the ICU on a ventilator for several days, followed by a long series of medical complications. He remained hospitalized at St. Francis in Federal Way (where my 81 year old mom has spent pretty much every day by his side and where I’ve spent my weekends) until Dec 23rd, when he was finally able to transfer to a wonderful rehabilitation facility in Silverdale.
While he still has a long road ahead, he is doing so much better — and having him out of the hospital was truly the best Christmas present ever. Feeling very hopeful heading into 2026 🧡
Wishing y'all a wonderful New Year, full of love, laughter, and good health!
