Klallam Counseling Services and Healthy Transitions have partnered to coordinate a Recovery Awareness Walk and BBQ.

Please join us September 22nd from 2pm-4pm. The walk starts at 2pm and we will walk from the Lower Elwha Housing (22 Kwitsen Dr, Port Angeles) to the Billy Whiteshoes Memorial Park. BBQ will be right after the walk! We hope to see you there!

New Fentanly pills are being found that look like candy or chalk. It's a good idea to always have Narcan on hand. Parents talk to your kids about these! KCS has Narcan nasal spray kits available on a regular basis, we even have them in a cabinet in our lobby restroom for discrete access!

**NEWS RELEASE - OPNET JOINS DEA IN WARNING PUBLIC ABOUT EMERGING TREND OF MULTI-COLORED FENTANYL**

OPNET has issued previous warnings about the dangers of fentanyl and the recent alarming overdose statistics. More recently, OPNET has received information from multiple agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of an alarming new trend. Agencies in 18 states, including Oregon, report seizing brightly colored fentanyl pills, sometimes referred to as “rainbow fentanyl”, as well as some that resemble sidewalk chalk. Drug cartels are constantly looking for ways to addict new users and this appears to be a way to entice younger users to fentanyl use.

Although OPNET has not encountered any multicolored fentanyl, trends such as this generally emerge in our area after they have filtered northward from Mexico and through southern states. OPNET encourages parents to have open communication with their children regarding the dangers of illicit drug use. The Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team (OPNET) is a multi-agency team dedicated to the enforcement of narcotics laws in Clallam County and Jefferson County. Agencies dedicating investigators to the team include the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, Port Angeles Police Department, Sequim Police Department, United States Border Patrol, Homeland Security Investigations, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and Port Townsend Police Department. OPNET’s primary focus is removing drug dealers from our community by identifying, locating, apprehending, and prosecuting offenders who deliver illegal narcotics such as he**in and methamphetamine.

Klallam Counseling Services and The Lower Elwha Health clinic lobby bathrooms now have Narcan nasal spray kits, Fentanyl testing kits and safer s*x grab & go packs with information on where to be tested in Clallam County for STD/STI’s. Everyone’s health is important however, stigma is the #1 reason people don’t seek help, or ask for these types of supplies. This is a discrete way for people to access these supplies. , ,

Klallam Counseling Services has a Recovery & Wellness garden. During treatment clients' are encouraged to participate in tending to our medicine garden. The herbs we harvest are used to make tradition medicines such as teas and salves. Teas are made available to all of our clients' . We also donate teas to our Tribal Elders' lunch program; in doing so clients' gain an understanding of what it means to participate and contribute, both are important skills for recovery.
