Clallam County will join communities around the world on Sunday, August 31 for International Overdose Awareness Day, the world’s largest annual campaign to end overdose, reduce the stigma of substance use disorder, and acknowledge the grief of families and friends left behind.

Community members are invited to gather at Port Angeles City Pier from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for a free, family-friendly event focusing on grief, healing, and connection, with activities that include:

• Resources for grief support, behavioral health, recovery, and harm reduction
• Creative art and craft stations for personal reflection and expression
• Quiet spaces for remembrance and mindfulness
• Narcan training
• Music and light snacks
• City Pier Tower to be lit in purple after the event

The event is hosted in partnership by North Olympic Healthcare Network, Harm Reduction Health Center/Clallam County Public Health, Peninsula Behavioral Health, Klallam Counseling Services, Reflections Counseling Services Group, Olympic Personal Growth Center, Jamestown Healing Center, and Olympic Peninsula Health Services.

Press Release: Join Us for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5

Port Angeles, WA – You’re invited to Port Angeles National Night Out (NNO)! Join the Port Angeles Police Department and partners on Tuesday, August 5, for an evening of community building and camaraderie. Enjoy family-friendly activities, music, and food vendors. Check out a K-9 demonstration, connect with community resources, and get to know your local police and fire personnel.

This free event will culminate with an outdoor movie at 7:00 p.m. featuring A Minecraft Movie. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket.

National Night Out is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnership. Port Angeles will join 17,000 communities across the nation in this annual celebration.
