🌡️☀️ Summer heat is no joke in Texas! With temps soaring into the high 90s and beyond, heat-related illnesses can develop quickly.

⚠️ Watch for warning signs: dizziness, heavy sweating, nausea, muscle cramps, confusion or rapid heartbeat, which can indicate dehydration, heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

Stay safe this summer:
💧 Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily (more if you're active!).
⏰ Plan outdoor activities for morning/evening.
🧴 Use SPF 30+ sunscreen daily — even on cloudy days.
🏠 Take frequent breaks in the AC or shade.

Don't ignore symptoms - if you're feeling unwell from the heat, head indoors and hydrate. Heat-related illnesses can quickly become dangerous, so if symptoms persist, visit Texas MedClinic Urgent Care for evaluation.

Stay cool, Texas, and read more tips for beating the heat on our blog at https://www.texasmedclinic.com/how-to-stay-safe-and-healthy-in-the-summer-heat/!

Although 98.6F is the ‘normal’ temperature, it’s common for it to vary from 97-99 depending on age and how the temperature is taken. Lower temps are common for those 64 and over.

For everyone three months and up, the simplest way to take a temperature is using a digital temporal (forehead) thermometer, but an oral thermometer works well too. (They’re just not recommended for children under four years.) Though you might remember having your temperature taken under your armpit, that method isn’t as accurate. If your reading shows a temperature of 99.5-100.3, it’s considered a low-grade fever. Over 100.5 is a strong signal that something’s wrong.

This blog offers guidance for when it's okay to take a fever reducer (and which to choose), and when to head to Texas MedClinic Urgent Care: texasmedclinic.com/tylenol-bayer-advil-and-aleve-whats-the-difference/
