Kaitlyn Meldrum got a beautiful delivery at work today to celebrate 1 year of being a Licensed Funeral Director. She did a job shadow with us and then joined our part-time team back in 2017 when she was still in high school!! If you've met Kaitlyn, you know that she found her perfect career because she is as compassionate and caring as they come ❤️

These new laws will help ensure that death certificates are available to grieving families as soon as possible. We are proud members of the Michigan Funeral Director's Association, which supported the legislation and informed our state leaders on the importance of these much needed changes.

Since a death certificate filed with the county clerk and medical examiner approval is required before cremation can take place; ensuring that the medical portions are signed and completed accurately and quickly is imperative as families plan services and memorialization. As always, we are a resource for the community - feel free to contact us if you have any questions about this legislation or the death certificate process.

The bills expedite the process for certification of a death certificate, Whitmer said, requiring they be filed within 48 hours through an online system.

A new session of GriefShare starts tomorrow night (Monday, February 2) from 7-8:30. Held at Colonial Woods Church in Port Huron, each week a video is shown followed by small group discussion for those who wish to share. It is a wonderful group of people helping each other through the loss of spouses, children, parents, siblings and friends. The introduction video below shows a glimpse of what the sessions are like, full of stories from folks who have traveled the journey. Please share with anyone you know who may benefit from this healing atmosphere. For questions or to register, call the counseling center, 810-984-5575 and specify "Griefshare". Questions on this post or direct messages are welcome as well.

As we reflect on 2025, we’re filled with gratitude for all that this year has been. Here are a few highlights our team is especially proud of:

🎓 Kaitlyn and Kylee, longtime members of our part-time staff, graduated from Wayne State University College of Mortuary Science, passed their national and state board exams, and officially joined our team as licensed funeral directors. Their dedication and compassion will continue to serve our community for many years to come.

🏆 We were honored to be named one of the nation’s “Best of the Best” funeral homes, based on customer reviews of value, presentation of the deceased, and overall satisfaction.

🇺🇸 Tina was selected to serve on the Great Lakes National Cemetery Advisory Council, contributing her experience and leadership at a regional level.

💚 Our team completed advanced training with Gift of Life Michigan, maintaining our status as a Gift of Life Champion funeral home.

🌊 We were chosen to host the Future Leaders Forum, welcoming and inspiring young funeral directors from across the country while showcasing our beautiful Blue Water area.

✨ Aiyanna was selected as one of only 25 funeral directors nationwide to participate in the highly competitive “Meet the Mentors” program in Washington, DC.

None of this would be possible without the trust of the families we serve, the support of our community, and the dedication of our staff who approach this work not as a job, but as a calling.
Thank you for allowing our family to serve yours.

We wish everyone a peaceful and meaningful 2026!

Amey surprised us this morning when she returned from her "vacation" with treats for her co-workers. It sure doesn't look like she had any time to relax on the days off! So many different types of cookies and they are all just as yummy as they are beautiful!

Our team participated once again in Wreaths Across America both at Allied Veterans Cemetery in Port Huron and with a team of funeral directors from around the country at Arlington National Cemetery. We look forward to this opportunity each December to "Remember the fallen, Honor those who have served and Teach the value of freedom".
Even though I know both of these ladies prefer the spotlight be on the program, a very special thank you to Lisa Lynn and Sally Lowe Belanger for their dedication that gives us the opportunity to participate.

Mr. Randall would have been 100 years old today. As we think about him, we are especially grateful for his calling into funeral service after WWII. He, along with Barb, Ann, John and Laura, our current team, and many funeral directors he mentored and trained across the state of Michigan, have walked alongside thousands of grieving families in the decades since. Dave always said it was a privilege to be a funeral director and we are proud to honor his legacy with the work we continue to do every day. We know he would tell us to remember him by "taking five" and enjoying a cup of tea and a Scottish shortbread. We hope you'll join us in doing that today.
