St. Clair County Community Mental Health is celebrating an important leadership transition, sharing our gratitude for Karen Farr and welcoming Danielle Hazlewood as our new Chief Financial Officer.

After more than a decade of dedicated service, Karen Farr will retire on January 30, 2026. Since joining SCCCMH in 2013, Karen has been a trusted leader, guiding the agency through complex financial challenges with integrity, diligence, and commitment to public service. Her leadership has helped ensure SCCCMH remains fiscally strong while continuing to meet the needs of our community. We are incredibly grateful for all she has done and wish her the very best in retirement!

As Karen departs, we are excited to welcome Danielle Hazlewood into the role of Chief Financial Officer. Danielle brings more than 20 years of government finance experience and has been part of the SCCCMH team for more than five years, most recently serving as Finance Director. Her deep knowledge of local government, strong community ties, and belief in our mission make her a wonderful fit for this next chapter.

Please join us in thanking Karen for her years of service and welcoming Danielle as she steps into her new role.

We're in for another frigid weekend, and our friends at Blue Water Allies have stepped up again to provide an emergency warming shelter option. See their post below for details, hours, and ways you can help!

Warming Center Open at Blue Water Allies!

Blue Water Allies will be open as a warming center this Thursday at 9:00am through Saturday at 9:00am.
Please help spread the word and let community members in need know that our doors are open.

We are making arrangements to have meals generously donated by local restaurants and organizations. We’ll also be serving coffee, tea, and snacks, so feel free to stop in, warm up, and take a break.

All are welcome. 💙

A huge thanks to Mid City Nutrition Soup Kitchen, Raven Cafe, Chef Shell's Restaurant & Catering, Christopher's Flowers & Nicky D’s Burgerz for your incredibly generous donations of food, hats, and gloves. Your kindness is making a real difference for our community.

Last but certainly not least, thank you to Jayson Richards for pulling this all together and to our faithful volunteers without whom none of this would be possible.

Last week, St. Clair County Community Mental Health lost a beloved colleague, advocate, and friend.

Laura Bramlett was someone who showed up for others, with compassion, kindness, and an unrelenting belief in recovery. As a Peer Support Specialist and Case Manager at SCCCMH, Laura went above and beyond for the individuals she served, always taking the time to listen, encourage, and connect people to the resources they needed. Her warmth and genuine care made people feel seen, valued, and supported.

Laura was also a passionate advocate within the recovery community in St. Clair County and an active supporter of NAMI Blue Water, where she served as the secretary. She touched countless lives through her work, her advocacy, and her giving spirit, and her impact will continue to be felt by the individuals and families who were fortunate to know her.

We hold Laura’s family, friends, coworkers, and the entire recovery community close in our thoughts during this incredibly difficult time. She will be deeply missed and so lovingly remembered.
