Acupuncture at its root is meant to be preventative medicine. It can certainly help if you throw your back out. But regular acupuncture may help prevent disease.
When I first started getting acupuncture, I had visits weekly or every other week for 3 years. I took herbs (and still do). I was struggling to heal an old neck injury, stressed out, in grad school, still working and completely run down. Healing takes time. Now, I get acupuncture once every month and feel better than ever.
At a minimum, I suggest everyone get acupuncture at least 4 times a year, during every change of season.
I see such a difference in my patients who come regularly, they seem to slow down the aging process.
