It is always heartbreaking when one of our recovery champions is gone. Port Huron Odyssey House has just learned of the passing of Laura Bramlett a former recovery coach of CMH currently with Crossroads. We join the mourning of the recovery community and send heartfelt condolences Laura's entire family. Perhaps she has passed from our sight but she remains alive in our memories

We are almost halfway through January!! What are some goals you have set for yourself this year? What is a long term goal you are still in the process of achieving?

My goal for this year is to have more discipline. Especially when it comes to exercising and eating healthier. I tend to fall off the wagon after having a successful 3 months. I also want to stop sleeping in on the weekends. I feel that this will help me to stop being so lazy every weekend. It also gives me more hours in the say to get things done.

My long term goal of achieving my Masters Degree and becoming a Computer Forensic Technician had a fork put in it last week. Due to past years of bad grades and addiction, there are semesters where I didn't do so well. Due to those circumstances I attempted more than the maximum amount of credits for my degree and lost my financial aid. I was devastated to say the least. Thankfully I spoke with an advisor and was able to put in the appeal which will be reviewed on Monday. I only need 11 more credits to finish my associates degree!!! So you can see why I was so upset!

In the moment when something goes wrong and we think everything we've worked so hard for is ruined, it's very important to take a step back, take a few deep breaths, and remain calm. We tend to overthink and think the worst in those types of situations. When in reality, if we remain calm, things tend to work out for the best in the end.

Here's to the best year of our lives and achieving goals like the bosses we are ❤️

**Non-Perishable Donations**

For the month of November we will be accepting donations at our office that will then be distributed to our ladies and children in housing. This is due to SNAP benefits not being given out for November. All of our ladies depend on their food assistance as they are in early recovery and don't have employment yet, or have just started working and don't have extra money for food yet. Any help is greatly appreciated ❤️
