When the going gets tough, the Y gets going. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’™

At the YMCA of the Blue Water Area, weโ€™re here for our community โ€” especially during challenging times.

If youโ€™re a federal employee impacted by the government shutdown, please know youโ€™re not alone. The Y is offering flexible payment options, financial assistance, and scholarship support to help you and your family stay connected to your health and community. Contact us if you're a Y member or program participant facing uncertainty. We're here to help!

Weโ€™re also preparing to support those affected by the potential loss of SNAP/EBT or WIC funding. Our first step: a Pop-Up Food Pantry - open to anyone in need. ๐Ÿฅซ๐Ÿ’›

**Non-Perishable Donations**

For the month of November we will be accepting donations at our office that will then be distributed to our ladies and children in housing. This is due to SNAP benefits not being given out for November. All of our ladies depend on their food assistance as they are in early recovery and don't have employment yet, or have just started working and don't have extra money for food yet. Any help is greatly appreciated โค๏ธ

Many survivors have shared similar stories with us when they reached out for help. Their dog or cat was their only comfort during the abuse. But the fear of what might happen to their pet often kept them from leaving.

This isnโ€™t rare. Abusers often threaten, harm, or even kill pets to maintain control. Nearly half of survivor's delay leaving because they canโ€™t take their animals with them.

Thatโ€™s why we created ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—ณ๐—ฒ ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐˜„๐˜€โ€”a program that provides emergency shelter, veterinary care, and fostering for the pets of domestic violence and human trafficking survivors.

It gives survivors the ability to bring their pets with them into safety, so they can begin the healing journey together.

No one should have to choose between their safety and their companions.

๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’œ Safe Paws means safety for every member of the family.

We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Angela Valdivia, Sean Forbes, and Crossroads Recovery Community for a wonderful event. A Walk to Remember brought a community together to honor those we have lost to overdose. May we always keep their memory alive. It was also an honor to have our MORT team recognized for the hard work they do for our community.
