Job Summary
As a Diver at Captain John's Dive Service, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality underwater services to our clients. This position involves performing underwater installations, maintenance, and cleaning tasks, including installing boat lifts, cleaning vessel hulls, and maintaining boats and boat lift systems. The ideal candidate is a certified diver with a strong work ethic, a passion for marine environments, and a commitment to safety and precision. Some on-the-job training will be provided to ensure success in our specialized operations.
Key Responsibilities
Boat Lift Installation: Execute precise underwater installations of boat lift systems, ensuring structural integrity and alignment for safe and reliable operation.
Hull Cleaning: Perform thorough cleaning of vessel hulls to remove marine growth, ensuring optimal performance, fuel efficiency, and longevity of boats.
Boat Maintenance: Conduct underwater inspections and maintenance tasks on boats, including propeller checks, zinc anode replacements, and minor repairs.
Boat Lift Maintenance: Inspect, repair, and maintain boat lift systems to ensure functionality and safety, addressing issues such as corrosion, cable wear, and mechanical malfunctions.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols and industry standards during all diving operations, maintaining a safe work environment for yourself and your team.
Equipment Management: Properly maintain and inspect diving gear, tools, and related equipment to ensure operational readiness and safety.
Client Interaction: Communicate professionally with clients to understand their needs, provide updates on services, and ensure satisfaction with completed work.
Documentation: Accurately log dive activities, maintenance records, and service reports to support operational efficiency and compliance.
Minimum Requirements
Certification: Valid Basic Diver certification from a recognized agency (e.g., PADI, NAUI, SSI). Advanced certifications are a plus.
Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks underwater, including lifting, maneuvering equipment, and working in varying conditions.
Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, based on client and seasonal demands.
Transportation: Reliable transportation to job sites in South Padre Island and surrounding areas.
Eligibility: Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Advanced Diving Certifications: Certifications such as PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, or equivalent, demonstrating advanced skills and experience.
Marine Mechanical Knowledge: Familiarity with boat lift systems, marine engines, or underwater mechanical repairs is highly desirable.
Welding or Fabrication Skills: Experience with underwater welding or fabrication for boat lift installations or repairs is a significant advantage.
Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, coordinating with other divers, technicians, and support staff.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during underwater maintenance or installations.
Customer Service: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and represent the company professionally.
Environmental Awareness: Knowledge of marine ecosystems and best practices for minimizing environmental impact during diving operations.
