Finding a sign or symbol for your loss can be a helpful tool to promote healing, help up feel connected to the person we lost, and provide comfort. It is the little reminder that your loved one mattered and is still with you each day. Back to School can be an exciting time for parents and children alike. For parents who have lost a child or children, it can also be extremely bittersweet.

Today is our daughter's first day of school. So much preparation goes into the first day of school, especially for kiddos heading off to kindergarten. I have spent the past week making sure supplies were dropped off, labeling lunch boxes and water bottles, doing laundry, and checking (and double che

If you have someone who has experienced loss coming to your holiday celebration - Please don't make their loss the elephant in the room.

Talk to them - say their loved one's name...
I promise you it will not make them sadder... it may even make them happy that someone else remembers and cares about their person.

Remember those of us who have experienced a significant loss think of that person everyday... knowing someone else does make the grief a bit less lonely. Wishing you all a gentle holiday season.

The holidays can be such a dark time for families who have lost a child. DTTB Angel Baby Corp. works to bring light to that darkness each year at their annual vigil celebrating the lives of many babies and children gone too soon. Here is a bit about my experience returning for my 2nd vigil.

Today is a Day of Listening... a day to relax, connect with others, and be heard. Take some time today to really connect with the important people in your life and practice truly listening.

Good listening skills can help us to develop stronger connections with others and help to develop a stronger sense of belonging - both of which contribute to our mental health!
