Maryhaven Enriching the Lives of People with Special Needs

Maryhaven creates welcoming environments where people with special needs may reach their highest potential and enjoy a life full of dignity, purpose, and inclusion. Maryhaven’s Residential Programs are family-like group homes and apartment-style communities where adults with special needs can live an independent, purposeful life with support. In addition to providing housing, we support attaining

the highest quality of life and personal growth by offering life skills and job training opportunities through our Day Habilitation, Vocational Training, and Supportive Work Programs.

💙Be Kind Week at Maryhaven was nothing short of amazing. Today we wrap it up feeling grateful, inspired, and more connected to our communities than ever before! Read below to check out how we encouraged and displayed kindness all week long!

Maryhaven stopped by and with lunch on Wednesday as part of Maryhaven’s Kindness Day. We are grateful for our partnership with A1 and can’t wait to meet up again in our expanded gymnasium, courtesy of A1 Cares, for a friendly game of basketball!
Our Bulldog players and day hab individuals love the gym and are excited for the expansion and all the amazing opportunities it is going to offer.
We feel very fortunate for their generosity and support.

This month we're shining a spotlight on Jessica Croce, one of our incredible veteran nurses at Maryhaven. Her kind welcoming demeanor creates a safe space for individuals to discuss their health concerns openly. Not only is she a compassionate caregiver but she is also a natural teacher, guiding her fellow staff with her wealth of knowledge and a heart of gold. Join us in celebrating Jessica and the vital role she plays in embodying the Maryhaven mission.

Celebrating Be Kind Day! 💙
Our programs came together to spread kindness and gratitude throughout the community. The Apartment Program thanked Seaport Diner in Port Jeff Station for always welcoming our large group with such warmth. Over at Beach Street IRA, residents delivered sweet treats and a fruit platter to the officers at the 5th Precinct to show appreciation for their service. The gentlemen from our Rocky Point Apartment gave a heartfelt thank you card and gift card to their therapist, Dr. Wang, to recognize all he does. These simple acts remind us that kindness goes a long way—today and every day!

Be Kind Week is in full effect! 💛

As part of our initiative, the Smith Residence had the honor of visiting the Rocky Point Fire Department to thank our local heroes with snacks, smiles, and heartfelt appreciation. The group enjoyed exploring the firehouse and learning more about the incredible work these brave firefighters do every day.

Meanwhile, Gregg and Randy from North Ocean stopped by their favorite spot, Three Jay’s Barber Shop, to deliver cookies and thank their barbers for always keeping them looking fresh! 🍪✂️

Kindness comes in many forms — and this week, we’re spreading it far and wide!

In the spirit of the upcoming Be Kind Day on June 25th, the individuals from our Chapman and Pine IRAs set out to spread some kindness of their own! They visited local businesses that always go above and beyond for them — including the train store, 7-Eleven, Carlo’s Pizza, the Fire Department, and Rico’s Clothing — to say thank you with heartfelt gestures and big smiles. 💙✨ Let’s keep the kindness going!
