Struggling with Anxiety & Stress? Your Nervous System Holds the Key to Relief!
When anxiety takes over, your body gets stuck in "fight or flight" mode, making it hard to think clearly, relax, or feel safe. The good news? You can train your nervous system to shift into "rest and digest" mode—also known as activating the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS).
✨ Why does this matter?
The PNS helps slow your heart rate, lower blood pressure, and release calming neurotransmitters. This shift tells your body, “You’re safe,” reducing the physical and emotional toll of anxiety.
💡 Simple Ways to Activate Your PNS:
✔️ Slow, Deep Breathing – Try inhaling for 4 seconds, holding for 2, and exhaling for 6.
✔️ Humming or Singing – Stimulates the vagus nerve, which signals relaxation.
✔️ Have a sip of water, a flavored candy or even imagine the taste of a lemon - this helps get your digestive system activated.
✔️ Progressive Muscle Relaxation – Tense and release each muscle group.
✔️ Cold Water Splash – Helps reset your nervous system.
✔️ Gentle Movement – Yoga, stretching, or a slow walk can bring a sense of calm - bonus if you can get outside and feel some sunshine.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, know that your body wants to return to balance. You can help it get there with small, mindful shifts. 💙
