Meet Eddie, who came to St. Charles’ inpatient rehab earlier this year recovering from Guillain-Barré Syndrome. Eddie was barely able to move his arms and legs when he first arrived and required dependent assist. His smile and humor during this challenging time captured the heart of the staff, making him an inspiration to all. Throughout his stay, his wife and daughter were his ultimate motivation to return to home. He persevered through medical setbacks and conquered his goal of heading home independently and even sunk a hole in one putt before being discharged! Way to go Eddie!

We are proud to announce that James Garrahan, 70, from Coram, is our 1,000th Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy treatment patient at St. Charles Hospital! James has been undergoing hyperbaric treatments since this past January for a radiation wound. He continues to do well with his treatments and says of the staff, "The Hyperbaric Center team has been professional, caring and just fabulous!" And James mentioned the TV inside the chamber has definitely helped and laughed that he is currently in the middle of watching the famous TV show series, Taxi! Helps to pass the time by!

Meet one of our inpatient rehab patients, Mike, 41, athletic director at Bridgehampton School District.

Mike was diagnosed with a glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer. Surgery removal was performed in April by a local hospital and then Mike was transferred to St. Charles Hospital for his rehabilitation as he was unable to walk or speak.

Thanks to the care Mike received by our stellar team of therapists, Mike is now walking with a cane and his speech has improved.
