The beloved ME STRONG 5K is returning to DeLand on Saturday, Feb. 1. The event will kick off at 8 a.m. on East Indiana Avenue in Downtown DeLand. Participants will run through the area and the Stetson University campus over a distance of 3.1 miles, concluding on West Indiana Avenue. This event is sponsored by many Woodland businesses, including The Elusive Grape and Sunset Kava Bar. Early registration is available online and packet pickup will take place on Thursday, January 30, and Friday, Jan. 31, at Venue 142.

The entry fee is $40 for adults and $20 for children up to age 18, after Jan. 29. All sponsorship funds raised from the 5K will support local individuals facing a cancer diagnosis.

As Easter approaches, let us not forget about the seniors in our community. You can do something so insignificant, but it means the world to them. Here are five actions you can take to make a difference:
1. Make an Easter basket full of essentials to distribute (socks, lotion non perfume, soaps, etc.)
2. Make Easter cards by hand to donate to a hospital or facility.

3. Make paper bag-made bunny ear treat bags to hand out.

4. Decorate plastic eggs and fill them with treats and a note of encouragement/positivity.

5. Participating in games such as Easter bingo at a facility or with family.
