Hi friends,

Here's a blurry picture that matches how blurry the days are feeling 🙃 As the bustle of Black Friday grows and more and more businesses are announcing their deep discounts, we want to share a little reminder...

I'm going to preface this with:
**This is not meant to shame other small businesses - we fully understand that times are tight and vulnerable for most of us small business owners and we're all pivoting the best we can.**

Unlike many businesses, we don't participate in Black Friday (we're actually closed that day) or Cyber Monday. You won't see any door busters, extreme deals, or blowout sales from us. Something we strive for in our business is accessibility and in order to keep our products at an accessible price point for as many folks as possible (while still being able to pay our own bills) we don't have huge profit margins that allow 50-75% off discounts nor do we have a massive inventory to move (small batch is, and will always be, our focus).

If you're holding off on stocking your wellness arsenal in case of a potential major bargain that just can't be beat, we're sorry if this message disappoints you. However, we're still planning on having our annual Winter Solstice Sale for both the website and the apothecary (spoiler alert, everything will be 15% off).

As you do your shopping this year, we invite you to join us in focusing on thoughtful purchasing and genuine support for small businesses like ours. We're incredibly grateful for all of our customers and it's not lost on us that you could spend your dollars elsewhere. It's been an honor to serve you over the years.

Hey locals, we'll be back at the .flora farmstand this week with more Elderberry Syrup, Fire Cider, Herbal Tea Blends, fresh Turmeric, the last of our beautiful Ginger, and possibly some other treasures from the greenhouse!

✨ Turmeric ✨

The medicine garden may be tucked in until Spring but the greenhouse feels like a tropical wonderland right now and we just started digging gorgeous Turmeric rhizomes out of ground.

I'll be set up at the Valley Flora Farmstand in Langlois tomorrow (Wednesday) from 11:30-2:30 slinging fresh Turmeric, some of our herbal tea blends, freshly bottled Elderberry Syrup and Fire Cider, and MAYBE some Ginger🤞🏼

Looking forward to seeing everyone up the creek again - it's been awhile!

✨Seasonal Herb Boxes✨
For those of you who didn't sign up for our CSH (Community Supported Herbalism) I recently made some more boxes available on the website.

This listing is for WINTER boxes only and is open until November 15th, or until we sell out - whichever happens first. Boxes can be shipped anywhere in the US (or picked up at the apothecary) and are expected to be delivered to you on or around December 21st.

Also, I'm making some big shifts next year and we won't be offering these in 2026 so if you've been wanting one for yourself or for a loved one (they are fantastic gifts!) this is your last chance!

The season is shifting and so are our hours. We ended the last day of our Summer hours with a bang (thank you so much Port Goreford enthusiasts!) and now it's time to embrace the shorter days.

Beginning next week we'll be open on Thursdays again and Mondays are going to be a little more sporadic. If the lights and sign are on, come on in. If you're ever unsure or need to make an appointment please reach out.

We'll also be set up at the Valley Flora farmstand on November 12th & 19th with fresh Turmeric, Elderberry Syrup, Fire Cider, and more.

Fire Cider is back in stock! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
If you're one of our cider heads you can thank Allen for this batch (and all future batches 😅). Not only does he make our fire cider but he grows most of the ingredients that we use too. Our goal is to eventually have a 100% OHG grown version one day🤞🏼Our horseradish tanked this year so we'll continue to try try again.

We are excited to participate in the first-ever Port Goreford Halloween Celebration with Port Orford Main Street and !!

From October 24 to 31, adventurers of all ages are invited to hunt for special Kraken coins hidden at participating local businesses. 🐙💰

Every coin you return earns you an entry into one of three prize packages; treasures and experiences from Port Orford’s most beloved local businesses worth over $2,300 total!

How to Play the Kraken’s Treasure Hunt:

🟣 Start by picking up your free Kraken coin and treasure map at the Visitor Center (open daily 10-4).

🟣 Visit participating businesses to collect more coins. A purchase to support our small businesses is encouraged, but not required for one coin. More than one will require a purchase!

🟣 Return at least 3 coins to the Visitor Center to win a free drawstring sportpack! Drop in signed coins to enter the Grand Prize Drawing on Halloween.

✨LIMITED✨ Elderberry Rose Glycerite

Made with this season's first flush of Elderberries, Spruce Tips that Allen gathered in the Spring, Rosehips, and a touch of Rose Petals - this blend is loaded with Vitamin C and is a tasty way to support your immune system.

I especially love to add a couple droppersful to some sparkling water.

This is part of a small limited batch that I made for our Autumn CSH members and I only have 12 extra bottles.
Once they're gone they're gone 😳

✨ Saint John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) ✨

Every year on the Summer Solstice, like clockwork, the St. John's Wort in our medicine garden is ready for harvest and we try to make enough St. John's Wort Oil to ideally get us through the year.

This season looked and felt a little different though as the flood we experienced earlier this Spring wiped out most of our established plants and left us only a few sporadic survivors. I gathered and processed all that I could and debated about heading inland to higher elevation to try to forage for more.

However, it turns out that instead of venturing elsewhere all that I needed to do was wait. Our small crop ended up giving us multiple flushes of blooms this year and I found myself harvesting plump buds and blossoms that stained my fingers red well into August. A gift.

Unlike our other oil infusions, we use fresh blossoms for this extract along with beautiful rich olive oil from , some time, and the power of the sun.

The bright yellow flowers slowly turn the oil into an incredible crimson hue thanks to a compound called hypericin. When used topically it can be an excellent ally for nerve pain, spasms, wounds, bruises, muscle pain, sunburns, blisters, and more.

Not only is this a remedy that I personally rely on almost daily, but it's also the base of our Muscle & Joint Salve that so many of you love.

Summer in a bottle. This delicious apple cider vinegar + honey tonic is made with fresh strawberries, lemon balm, and a hint of basil.

Take it straight, diluted in your beverage of choice (makes a fantastic mocktail or cocktail) or use as the base of a vinaigrette.
