Lent reminds us that brokenness makes room for the hope and renewal that come with Easter. 💜

Trevor Bonat, Ascension Vice President of Mission Integration, reflects on the time when he hit his limits, but his faith filled in.

During Black History Month, we honor two remarkable women, pioneers in medicine who helped shape care for women and children.

🎀Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler became the first African American woman to earn an MD degree in the United States in 1864. After the Civil War, she dedicated herself to caring for those who had limited access to medical services and later published a book on women’s and children’s health, encouraging women to speak up in medical spaces.

We also honor 🎀 Dr. Rebecca J. Cole, who earned a medical degree in 1867, becoming the second Black woman in the United States to achieve this distinction. She went on to receive a second medical degree and devoted more than 50 years to caring for families, with a focus on prenatal and pediatric care, advocating for those with limited resources.

Their legacies remind us that compassionate, skilled care and improved access can change lives for generations. At Ascension Sacred Heart, we celebrate the leaders who opened doors and strengthened care for mothers, babies, and families.

Kindness can change everything. 💛

On this World Day of the Sick, we honor the associates who show up with compassion every day. From brushing someone’s hair to taking the time to explain a medication, these moments of care remind patients that they are seen, valued, and never alone.

Ascension Florida is pleased to share that Susan Newton has been appointed Vice President of Finance.

Susan most recently served as Chief Financial Officer at Ascension St. Vincent’s Clay County Hospital, where she led a $140 million annual operating budget.
