Public executions were common place in Scotland and across the world many in public common places. There were always those that felt disdain for them and the inhumanity of such. This is the Midlothian Heart in Edinburgh,Scotland where such people would spit on the ground as an act of defiance against the government for public executing “criminals” some of which were just trying to get food to feed their families. I took this picture not realizing the history of it but I was drawn to it. There will always be humane in times of inhumanity. During their time I’m sure they were outnumbered and outcasts but over time we all came to realize they were right all along.
