This is my final presentation of the year! 2024 has been a year focused on networking and raising awareness about the importance of the parent-child relationship and its impact on young children aged 0 to 5 years. I am passionate about promoting this topic and will never grow tired of advocating for it. A special thanks to St. Lucie RISE Roundtable of St. Lucie County for giving me the opportunity to share my thoughts and insights.

I am excited to share this recent finding! Child-parent psychotherapy (CPP) Child-Parent Psychotherapy is an attachment-based trauma treatment that not only improves the parent-child relationship, and the mental health of the child and caregiver, but NOW it reduces the impact of trauma on the cellular level. Very fascinating! And GUESS WHAT? We at Inner Reins Counseling are trained and provide CPP as an intervention.

It goes to show that our early childhood experiences do matter and impact us deeply! If this is true for our childhood traumatic experiences, then how much more do positive experiences matter and impact our mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health.

Let's prevent childhood trauma by providing children with the best buffer against trauma which is-A POSITIVE SAFE AND SECURE RELATIONSHIP WITH AT LEAST ONE CONSISTENT PERSON!

Today, I had the wonderful opportunity to tour Guardians For New Futures, guided by the amazing Suzanne Mogavero whom I just met on Tuesday at the Treasure Coast - Premier Women's Network meeting. It's incredible how connections can lead to meaningful experiences! Suzanne is genuinely dedicated to raising awareness about the vital services this facility offers to children who have faced abuse.

Interestingly, I was here two years ago, spreading mulch and doing some light landscaping. 😅 Back then, I thought within myself, “I want to be involved with this,” so being here now and making these connections feels truly special.

By the way, I love the prayer over the door. This prayer displayed above their door truly represents everything I am and offer as a therapist to my clients.

I had a great time networking with the women from Treasure Coast - Premier Women's Network at Tutto Fresco. The food and atmosphere were amazing!!! This was my first time and I will definitely be back. Thanks for everyone who made me feel welcomed. It was beautiful to be in a room with so many women pursuing their dreams and being supportive of one another. I will definitely have a better 30 second commercial presentation of Inner Reins Counseling next time…stay tuned. 😅

I also had the chance to meet, Arilea Fenty, owner of Chances Advocates LLC. She is such a sweet spirit and is passionate about children with autism and their families living their best life! She will come along your journey and make sure you do not feel alone!

May is National Treatment Court Month, celebrating the success of Florida’s Problem-Solving Courts. Okeechobee Early Childhood Court (ECC), established in October 2022, addresses the needs of infants and toddlers (ages 0-5) involved in the child welfare system and placed in out-of-home care. ECC aims to improve family outcomes through a national approach and evidence-based best practices, with child-parent psychotherapy (CPP) as a key component. This approach enhances child safety, heals trauma, repairs the parent-child bond, promotes timely permanency, prevents maltreatment recurrence, and breaks the cycle of abuse and neglect. ECC is built upon partnerships with various agencies, many of which attended the 2024 Florida’s All Sites Training to learn more about best practices and ways to enhance program success.
