The discussion will focus on Heart Health Awareness, presented by LaKeisha Williams, PharmD, MSPH, Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Clinical and Administrative Sciences and Director of Community Engagement & Outreach at the Center for Minority Health & Health Disparities Research and Education, College of Pharmacy, Xavier University of Louisiana. Plaquemines Medical Center, in conjunction with the National Rural Health Association, is currently working on community initiatives to raise awareness of lung cancer and pediatric behavioral health. These two initiatives were identified through a community connect event, followed by an action planning workshop with key community stakeholders. During the initial event, stakeholders engaged in in-depth discussions about the needs and concerns of Plaquemines Parish residents. The subsequent action planning workshop allowed participants to prioritize lung cancer and pediatric behavioral health as the two most pressing areas of concern at this time. Stakeholders also discussed targeted approaches and next steps for increasing awareness and expanding services related to these initiatives. Over the coming months, stakeholders will participate in a series of action meetings to move the plan forward and bring it to life. Plaquemines Medical Center looks forward to bringing much-needed, hard-to-access services to the Plaquemines Parish community.
