Community Strong at National Night Out Against Crime! ๐Ÿš“

Plaquemines Medical Center was honored to participate in the National Night Out Against Crime, hosted by Officer Sammy Hymes and Judge Brenda Hymes. The event was a huge success, bringing together community leaders and residents in a united stand against crime.

๐ŸŽถ The evening was filled with joy, featuring delicious boiled seafood, parade of prize raffles for both kids and adults, lively music, face painting, a bounce house and a dazzling fireworks show! ๐ŸŽ†

Special thanks to Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Jerry Turlich and his dedicated team for stopping by, along with Clerk of Court Kim Turlich-Vaughn, Assessor Sara Taylor, District 8 Council Rep Mitch Jurisich, and the Port Sulphur Fire Department ๐Ÿš’.

Together, weโ€™re building a safer, stronger Plaquemines Parish. ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŒŸ Highlights from the Healthy Aging Seminar

Community Health Champion, Hannaha Williams, set the tone with engaging conversations and interactive moments. Participants opened up about the best advice theyโ€™ve ever received and what theyโ€™re thankful forโ€”building bonds and lifting spirits. Clinical Coordinator, Monica Martin encouraged attendees to express what theyโ€™d love to learn more about. The top interests were using computers, crocheting and swimming. Itโ€™s never too late to learn.
Lakeisha Williams of Xavier University presented topics about healthy aging. She emphasized how regular movement, and balanced meals can boost energy, mood, and longevity. She also shared practical tips on safeguarding living spaces like removing tripping hazards, improving lighting, and installing grab bars for maintaining independence. Participants didnโ€™t just listen; they asked thoughtful questions and shared their own experiences. That kind of interaction is the heartbeat of community learning. Please join us for our next Healthier Community Series happening October 9th. More information will be available soon.
