Are you feeling stressed, overwhelmed, sad, worried, nauseous? These are all normal human emotions in response to a life experience of this magnitude. Be patient and compassionate with yourself today. Try to find some other anchors for your attention, rather than the news. Yes, your mind will keep wandering back, but you can help train your mind to focus where you want by exercising the "muscle" of your attention. Dive into work, watch a funny sitcom, read a book, exercise, take a walk, cook - find a good anchor that centers you.

Mental health is not the absence of distress. It is living life in accordance with your values and goals. Often this is difficult. If you are struggling with the state of the world, find the tiniest spark to pour into action that you find meaningful. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Take a baby step or a giant leap.
