It may be gross to think about, but well over 50% of the population has some sort of parasitic infection. Common causes: LACK of hand washing, pets and consumption of meat. Fecal-oral contamination can happen easily (especially in restaurants). It is of utmost importance that you wash your hands often (and train your kids to do the same). This is not about being a germaphobe (which I am NOT)— here’s how it can work: Because these bugs are transmitted VERY easily, all I have to do is touch a doorknob (that someone with unwashed hands just opened). If that person has parasites, all I have to do is rub my eyes, mouth, etc. to introduce them into my body. IF I have a strong immune system and adequate HCl, there will likely be no problem. But otherwise, I could become ill. Moral of the story… wash your hands often and keep them away from your face. Also, taking adequate amounts of HCL will help prevent this too.
