Deprogramming: Clearing the Clutter of the Mind

We live in a world of constant suggestion.
From the moment we wake up, we’re being programmed—by what we see on the news, what we hear in our music, the social cues from our coworkers, the stories told in our favorite shows, and the messages buried in advertisements. It’s no surprise that over time, we start to internalize some of these suggestions. Monkey see, monkey do.

This isn’t always bad. Some programming teaches us how to be kind, collaborative, or creative. But a lot of it? It’s noise. Or worse, it’s harmful.

A great example is “Every Breath You Take” by The Police. It’s often mistaken for a romantic song, but the lyrics paint a much darker picture. This is not love—it’s obsession. Jealousy. Control. And yet, it’s been played at weddings for decades. When messages like this are absorbed subconsciously, they blur our understanding of what healthy love looks like. They plant seeds that grow into distorted expectations and beliefs about relationships.

This is where hypnosis comes in.

A lot of people think hypnosis is about programming people—installing new habits, planting new beliefs. And sure, there is some reprogramming. But what I find even more powerful, and often more necessary, is deprogramming. Clearing the clutter. Undoing the damage. Releasing the beliefs that no longer serve.

In hypnosis, I guide people through experiences that help them challenge what they’ve absorbed from the world—often without even realizing it. We peel back the layers of other people’s opinions, fears, expectations, conditioning, and subconscious beliefs. I help the mind become a clearer, quieter place. We strengthen resilience—not by pretending the world is perfect, but by making sense of it and reclaiming power throughout the process.

The most powerful suggestions my clients have come from themselves, not me, the news, or any commercial. The power to change comes from you.

Welcome to Bright Tomorrows Hypnosis Center! Conveniently located in Fayetteville, North Carolina. serving the community with professional, compassionate, and modern hypnosis and hypnotherapy.

​My name is Brian McCartney, president of Bright Tomorrows Hypnosis Center. I am a Registered and Certified Hypnotist, a certified 5-PATH hypnotherapist, a certified 7th Path Self-hypnosis Teacher, and am a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists. I and other hypnotists at the center use hypnosis to help uncover the subconscious reasons and underlying causes and conditions behind people's symptoms, behaviors, or habits. We then utilize special tools and techniques to help release them and learn a new positive way of thinking, subconsciously moving a person towards empowerment and wellness. This is our method of hypnotherapy.
