Today, let’s plant seeds of kindness and calm in our minds. Beautiful growth is always possible. 🌱 Beauty grows from intention. 🌱

As we moved into fall this year I watched my mother-in-law put her garden to bed. She took so much time with it! Have you ever tried gardening? I have, but it didn’t go so well. It is a lot of work…

You can love Jesus and see a therapist.
You can pray and ask for help.
You can have strong faith and still struggle sometimes.
Because real faith doesn’t deny pain — it invites God into it.

I can love Jesus AND have a therapist! For a long time, conversations about mental health in the church came with a quiet undercurrent of shame. If you struggled with anxiety, maybe you were told to…

Mental Health Monday!
🧠 Your brain is not a browser.
You might think you’re great at multitasking… but science says otherwise.
This isn’t just about work or chores. It’s also about how we handle trauma.
When we try to live in the present and in the pain of the past, our brains get overwhelmed. We can’t give our full attention to both — and that’s actually good news.
It means we can choose to ground ourselves in the here and now.
One safe moment at a time. One open tab at a time. 💛
https://mentalhealthmondays.blog/2025/10/20/why-multitasking-feels-so-hard-and-what-your-brains-trying-to-tell-you/

Have you ever noticed how bad we actually are at multitasking? Sure, we can do it — but can we do it well? Not really. I can already hear you protesting: “Of course I can do two things at once!” An…

New Mental Health Mondays Post: What are you yoked to?
https://mentalhealthmondays.blog/2025/10/13/what-are-you-yoked-with/

Sometimes we attach ourselves to things that weigh us down—stress, people-pleasing, our own inner critic.

Jesus invites us to something lighter:

“My yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

We’re not meant to carry it all alone. 💛
Maybe today’s the day to check in:
What are you yoked with? And how can you lighten your load?

What Are You Yoked With? This question isn’t about eggs. Although they are my favorite breakfast! I’m not “yoking”!  The Lexham Bible Dictionary defines a yoke as an instrument made from bent …

Did you hear about the South African pastor who went live saying the rapture would happen in September?

It went viral on TikTok — — and people all over the world started selling their stuff and getting ready to be taken up into the sky.

Wild, right?
But it got me thinking about something that’s been everywhere lately…
Doechii’s song “Anxiety.” 🎵

“I get this tightness in my chest
Like an elephant is standing on me
And I just let it take over.”

That line hits.
Because if showed us anything, it’s that anxiety is in the air — not just personally, but collectively.

And here’s the thing: anxiety isn’t always bad.
Sometimes it’s the nudge that helps us study, finish the project, or remember what truly matters.

💍 Marriage isn’t about the dishwasher or the towels… it’s about choosing love over being right.

Some conflicts never get “solved” — but love is the glue that sticks through it all. ❤️

👓 Check your lenses.
It’s not just what happens to you — it’s how you see it.

Two people can experience the same moment and walk away with totally different takeaways.

Romans 12:2 reminds us to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” When we see through God’s truth, fear turns to faith, bitterness to grace, hopelessness to hope.

✨ Your perspective shapes your world. Choose your lens.

Our Name

When I was growing up, my mother was in a singing group called Joy Unlimited with three of her closest friends. Once I became an adult, married, and had my own family, I learned so much about my mom and how she “counseled” many hurting people in her own community. She was and still is an inspiration to me, and my prayer is that everyone who walks through the doors of Joy Unlimited Counseling Center will feel the hope and peace my mom modeled so well, and be able to choose joy like she did after our time together.
