Good afternoon everyone-

It is with a heavy heart that we are sending this email.

Our beloved Laura Bucknell passed away from this earth after a short battle with her health. She fought ferociously, just as she lived. In the end, she left this world in good spirits and largely on her own terms with her friends, as she was Laura and wouldn't have it any other way.

We will post memorial information as we receive it.

We know this comes as a terrible shock to you all. We're sorry to inform you via Facebook, but we wanted you to hear it from us directly. You students were her family too, and we fully recognize that many of you loved her as much as we did. Please understand that serving her students was always her utmost priority, and until her last day, she spoke of you all with the highest regards. She truly cared for each of you.

Eastern New Mexico University’s Department of Communicative Disorders (CDIS) is excited to announce three open positions! Join our team and help prepare the next generation of professionals.

🔹 Assistant Professor of Audiology (10-month faculty)
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in CDIS
• Supervise student clinicians and provide diagnostic audiology & aural rehabilitation services
• Assist with ASHA accreditation, service, and scholarly activities
• Requirements: Au.D. (Ph.D./Ed.D. a plus), CCC-A or Fellow of AAA, clinical experience, NM licensure eligibility

🔹 10-Month Faculty Position (Instructor)
• Teach assigned courses (face-to-face, online, or hybrid)
• Manage course materials and grades in the LMS
• Support student success and academic reporting
• Newly licensed CCC-SLP encouraged to apply!
• Requirements: Master’s degree, ability to teach on campus in Portales, NM (college-level teaching preferred)

🔹 State Clinical Supervisor (SLP)
• Teach undergraduate and graduate CDIS courses
• Provide clinical supervision and assist with ASHA accreditation
• Participate in program and university activities
• Newly licensed CCC-SLP encouraged to apply!
• Requirements: CCC-SLP, Master’s degree, minimum 2 years CDIS practice, NM licensure eligibility

🥰🫶🏼👏🏼 Way to go Miranda!

Two new faces in the St. Croix clinic for the next couple months - Miranda and Lauren, our speech language therapy externs! Guided by our fantastic SLPs, Ms. Dora and Ms. Allison, they'll be helping to support our JS Therapies children with speech, language, literacy, and all modes of communication!

Thank you to ENMU CDIS Program and Mount St. Joseph- Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences for entrusting us with clinical education and mentorship for your students! We know they will enjoy their time in St. Croix, both in and out of the clinic! ☀️🏝️💕
