What is a Cleft Palate? 💬👶
A cleft palate is a birth defect where the roof of the mouth (palate) doesn’t form completely, leaving an opening between the nose and mouth
Cleft palate is one of the most common birth conditions, affecting about 1 in 700 babies 👶. Children with cleft palates may face challenges with feeding 🍽️, speech 🗣️, and hearing 👂, and may also experience social and emotional hurdles 💔. This condition is typically caused by a combination of genetic 🧬 and environmental 🌍 factors.

How Can Speech Therapy Help? 🗣️✨
Speech therapy is essential for helping children with cleft palates or craniofacial differences build clear and confident communication skills. Even after surgery, some children may still have difficulty with speech sounds or resonance.
Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) can help children:
✅ Produce sounds clearly 🔊
✅ Improve speech clarity and resonance 🌟
✅ Strengthen oral motor skills 💪👄
✅ Build language and social interaction skills 🧠🗨️👫
With early support and personalized therapy, children with cleft palates can thrive and find their voice! 💖🎤



¿Qué es el paladar hendido? 💬👶
El paladar hendido es un defecto de nacimiento en el que el techo de la boca (paladar) no se forma por completo, dejando una abertura entre la nariz y la boca.

El paladar hendido es una de las condiciones congénitas más comunes, afectando a aproximadamente 1 de cada 700 bebés 👶. Los niños con paladar hendido pueden enfrentar desafíos con la alimentación 🍽️, el habla 🗣️ y la audición 👂, además de posibles dificultades sociales y emocionales 💔.
