A Doula is a woman who provides assistance to a mother before, during, and shortly after child birth. As most of you know, I have been an in-home care provider for about 15 years. Taking care of people is what I LOVE to do. It is spiritually fulfilling for me, it's what makes me happy, and it is my passion. As a Doula, I will help expecting mothers establish a birth plan that will detail all of th
eir wishes for labor and delivery. The birth plan will cover all aspects of your labor and delivery including whether the mother would like to have medications administered during labor, what kind of exercises I can do with the mother to help her progress into labor, and which coping methods will help the mother ease through her contractions. The services available to my clients will be discussed in detail during an initial appointment. This is an opportunity for myself and the client to get to know each other, ask questions, or address any concerns. Doulas are not only beneficial to the laboring mother but we are also a support system for the partner. It is not a Doula's intention to replace your birth partner, but instead join together so we can both help the mother. Part of my role as a Doula is to be available for the partner as well. I will teach your partner soothing techniques and exercises they can do with the mother to prepare for labor and during delivery. Doulas pride themselves on providing emotional support, physical comfort, and helping woman make good, healthy decision for her and her baby. As your Doula, I promise to be with you at every step in your journey to motherhood. I will be there to nurture and protect your birth memory and I won’t leave your side until your baby has been successfully delivered! Childbirth is the most amazing time in a woman's life!
