At Children's Program, we recognize that managing students' cell phone use can be complicated. Varying school policies can make it even more challenging. Our clinicians work with families to sort through strategies to help arrive at solutions that are right for you and your child.

As the new school year dawns, local schools remain hesitant about blanket policies around cellphone use, particularly at the high school level.

In this article, Julie Kaplow, PhD, ABPP shares research on vicarious trauma, and offers some tips for how to minimize its impact as you stay informed about current world events.

"Events can negatively affect people a world away from the scene, especially when this involves witnessing fear, pain, grief, and terror that others have experienced."

We have opened up five scholarship spots for our RISE UP camp and our YASS camp that are occurring the week of 7/24 to 7/28. So many families have struggled to access mental health services for their children since the pandemic, and this is an opportunity for youth to spend a week with eight psychologists and therapists. Campers will be saturated in relationship and regulation skills while also having fun.

The RISE UP (Regulated and Respectful, Inclusive, Self-aware, Empathic Upstanders) camp is for middle schoolers in need of tailored social-emotional skills support. The YASS (Youth Adoptee Support Space) camp is for middle school adoptees wanting to process adoption-related issues and connect with others who have shared lived experiences.

Please email Ally Burr-Harris (aburrharris@childrensprogram.com) or Mariko Clark (mclark@childrensprogram.com) if interested in the RISEUP camp. Please email Julia Rossi (jrossi@childrensprogram.com) if interested in the YASS camp.
