The Goal is Progress.....Not Perfection. Instead of defining your progress by the standards of others or seeking unattainable perfection, Ask yourself, what is important to me? How do I feel? What are MY Goals?
Progress can mean:
1. Doing nothing, when you are use to doing too much.
2. Setting boundaries even when its messy and hard or not setting boundaries at all.
3. Still doing the things that you are trying not to do but with new insight and perspective.
4. Slowing The F*** Down
5, Asking For Help/Not asking for Help
6. Feeling your feelings
7. Showing up for therapy even when you don't want to
8. Cancelling therapy because you need a moment.
9. Being Vulnerable/Not being Vulnerable.
10. Sleeping when your tired!
There is a lot of pressure to do things the "right way" and even more this time of year. Listen to that voice deep down inside. Honor your progress.
Perfection isn't real and the thought of it steams from majority culture racist values (and who wants to be a part of that 😬). Protect your peace. Draw your own lines to progress... And don't forget you can erase them and start over whenever the hell you want.
