Dr. Cynthia Casas, DSOM, LAc Hi, I’m Cynthia! Chinese Medicine is my passion. I am dedicated to enhancing the quality of my patients’ lives in the physical, emotional and spiritual levels.

I’ve studied with the top experts in the field who treat their patients’ wellbeing on a psycho-emotional level as well as the physical: David Berkshire of Worsley’s Five Element; Brandt Stickley of Shen-Hammer Pulse System; and Heiner Fruehauf, Qi Gong Master and lineage holder, and owner of Classical Pearls, a line of Chinese Herb formulas. For me Chinese Medicine is the science and art of brin

ging the individual into balance so they may become who they are meant to be. This powerful practice affects profound changes both inside and out. The premise of my practice is a wholehearted belief in the body’s intelligence; I work with needles, cups, moxabustion, and Chinese Herbs to remind the body of its ability to self heal and of its spirit’s most genuine expression.

What’s the winter vibe for you? Can’t wait to curl up by the fire, wear wool sweaters, go to bed earlier, stay in bed later? Are these mere comfort cravings or are they much deeper, even primordial longings? In our next Humming with the Seasons sessions, join us as we take a dive into the depths of this most watery aspect of the year with its associations of cold, fear, wisdom, storage and so much more. In our first session we’ll explore what classical Chinese sages have written about this season and its corresponding element, water. We’ll cover what winter means for our body, mind and spirit — how to recognize the energetic flow of winter and discover the gifts it brings us. In our second session, we’ll do a practice that helps us tap into the winter within. To be in tune with winter is so much more than coziness by the fire, but there’s no better place to start the winter story than there. Grab your laptop, favorite blanket, and warm cup of tea, and join us as we listen closely for the hum of this winter season vibrating in us.
This season will be taught by me, Dr. Cynthia Casas.

The Winter class will take place on Thursday, December 6th at 6:30pm PST / 9:30pm EST. The Winter practice will occur on Wednesday, January 3rd at 5pm PST / 9pm EST.

Ever find yourself caught in the whirlwind of modern life, with its constant demands and seemingly endless to-do lists? Do you wonder if there is a way to reconnect with nature's cycles without adding more stress? The fast pace of our lives can make it seem like we have no choice but to override and ignore nature’s gentle whispers. What if there were simple ways we could bridge this gap to honor both the world around us and the world within us?

The ancient Chinese understood themselves as between Heaven and Earth, the intermingling of the Stars and the Seasons of Nature. Through the lens of the 5 Elements and the corresponding seasons, Classical Chinese Medicine offers us unique gifts and insights that can help us rediscover that we are not separate from nature but an integral part of it.

With the Fall season and Metal Element we discover a profound connection to clarity, strength, and quality. Through sharpening our inner sword of discernment, we learn to recognize what truly enriches our lives and we discover how to let go of what no longer serves us.

Join us as we hum along with the rhythms of the seasons, finding harmony within and without. It's an opportunity to nurture your connection with nature, discover practical techniques for daily life, and realize that by learning and caring about Nature, we are learning and caring for ourselves.

This season will be taught by Dr. Tara Radsliff, a good friend of mine. I encourage you to read her blog post, We are, after all, only a part of Nature at https://www.manyriverspdx.com/blog.

The Fall class will take place on Wednesday October 4th at 6pm PST / 9pm EST. The Fall practice will occur on Wednesday November 1st at 6pm PST / 9pm EST.
