“Women have the power to make their exams more comfortable.” - Dr. Linda Bradley

There are many reasons to see your gynecologist - annual exams, Pap smears, first appointments, IUDs, STI checks, and more. And while those visits are essential, discomfort doesn’t have to be part of the experience.

The award-winning Nella Speculum is quiet, slim, smooth, and thoughtfully designed by women to help make pelvic exams more comfortable.

2024, Nella helped amplify a national conversation on women’s health alongside Halle Berry - reinforcing the need for more thoughtful, patient-centered care. And now, two years later, over 2 million women have used a Nella Speculum at their doctor’s appointment.

Because comfort enables care.

If your pelvic exam has ever hurt, you’re not alone — and you’re not imagining it. But pain during an exam isn’t something you’re supposed to “just deal with.” A huge part of that discomfort comes from the tool at the center of the exam: the speculum.

Most traditional speculums were designed over 150 years ago. They’re often too large, too loud, and require constant adjustments because visibility isn’t optimized. That combination can make the exam uncomfortable for patients.

The Nella Speculum was created to change that. It’s slimmer, quieter, and redesigned with features that support a gentler, smoother experience — like a narrow tip for insertion, sidewall retractors, and an integrated LED light that helps providers see clearly without needing to reposition. It’s already used in hospitals and OB-GYN clinics across the U.S.

And if your clinic doesn’t offer Nella yet, you can still have a more comfortable exam.
Just bring your own — the speculum arrives sealed in its own packaging inside the Nella Comfort Kit, and your provider opens it during your appointment just like any other medical tool.

Your exam shouldn’t hurt.
Your comfort matters — every single time. 💛

What makes the Nella Speculum truly modern? It’s a completely redesigned speculum and available today to use.

While most “plastic” speculums are simply lighter versions of the old 1800s metal design, Nella was rebuilt from the ground up to support comfort, visibility, and ease of use for both patients and providers.

Here’s what sets it apart:
✨ Slim (size of a tampon), quiet design that reduces pain and anxiety
✨ Sidewall retractors that gently support tissue
✨ Integrated LED light for clear, consistent visualization
✨ Smooth, ergonomic shape that aligns more naturally with the body
✨ Available to clinicians and patients - used in hospitals and OB-GYN clinics nationwide - and you can bring your own with the Nella Comfort Kit

This is what modern women’s healthcare should look like: technology that prioritizes patient comfort without compromising clinical precision.

A better exam is not just possible - it’s already here. 💛

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers - but only if you stay up to date with the screenings that are right for you. Screening timelines vary by age, health history, and personal risk factors, which is why guidance from your own provider is so important.

Here’s a simplified overview of current recommendations:
✨ Under 21 - No routine screening yet.
✨ Ages 21–29 - Pap smear every 3 years.
✨ Ages 30–65 - Pap every 3 years, HPV testing every 5 years, or co-testing every 5 years.
✨ 65+ - You may stop screening if you’ve had consistently normal results and no high-grade history.
✨ Special cases - Some women need more frequent screening based on their medical history or risk factors.

Stay informed. Stay on schedule. And take care of yourself in a way that feels safe and comfortable. 💛

These are general guidelines. Always check with your doctor and follow their guidance.

Yes - you can bring your own speculum to your pelvic exam. And more women are doing it every year.

Patients already bring medical devices to appointments all the time: CPAP mask pieces, breast pump flanges, inhaler spacers, glucometers, and more. A speculum is no different - especially when it’s designed to make the exam more comfortable for you.

The Nella Speculum arrives clean, sealed, and packaged just like other medical tools used in hospitals. Your provider opens it at the time of your exam, and many clinicians actually prefer using it because it’s slimmer, quieter, and offers better visibility.

If your clinic doesn’t offer Nella yet, you don’t have to wait for a more comfortable experience.

Just bring your own inside a Nella Comfort Kit - simple, safe, and completely acceptable.

Your body. Your exam. Your comfort. 💛

A Pap smear and a cervical exam often happen at the same appointment — but they aren’t the same thing. And understanding the difference can help you feel more confident and prepared before you go in.

Here’s the breakdown:
✨ A cervical exam is when your provider uses a speculum to look at your cervix and check your anatomy and overall cervical health.
✨ A Pap smear is a test that happens during that exam, where a small sample of cervical cells is collected and sent to the lab to screen for precancerous changes.

You can have a cervical exam without a Pap smear (like during an IUD check, postpartum visit, or follow-up for symptoms), but every Pap smear requires a cervical exam.

The tool used for both exams matters — a lot.
The Nella Speculum is designed to make cervical exams and Pap smears more comfortable and more precise, with a slimmer shape, integrated LED light, and sidewall retractors for better visibility.

And if your clinic doesn’t offer Nella yet, you can bring your own Nella Comfort Kit with a sealed Nella Speculum for a gentler, smoother exam experience. 💛
