Daniel Westley's fight against Wilm's DW was diagnosed with kidney cancer, likely Wilm's tumor. He will have surgery on 6/3 to remove his kidney and a long road of chemo ahead of him.

He's an amazing child who loves his brother and sister, dinosaurs, and marvel characters.

Daddy and I took the boys for a walk this weekend. DW rode his scooter for the first time in 7 months! Then we shared some cuddles at home on the lovesack. Don't know where I'd be without all my guys 💙 (Daniel not pictured because he was zooming on his one wheel!)

DW has his next scan in just a few weeks! It WILL be an awesome Valentine's Day update for us. 2023 is going to be a great year 🙌

DW has been doing well! He's healing from his procedure and has an extensive dental procedure coming up in January but otherwise he is doing phenomenal!

We truly appreciate everyone who has been able to show your love and support. We wouldn't be doing so well without you! Thank you.

Back home in mom and dad's bed watching kids tube. When he was awake enough he saw the scar and was upset thinking the port was still in. We assured him it's out and it's just the scar now. He says he didn't get to nap at all 😂 meanwhile he could barely hold his head up haha. I know we're all ready for some sleep now before we pick up brother from daycare this afternoon 😴

All done! Everything went well, he's still just real sleepy. Nurse said he rolled his eyes at her 🙈 and just wanted to go back to sleep. Officially lost his tooth! Will see if he wants a pic for that later!

DW has officially gone back to the surgical area. He was very relaxed after receiving some meds and learned from the anesthesiologist that his VERY loose tooth may need to come out today so he may also have his first visit from the tooth fairy tonight 😁 he giggled at that, not sure if he thought it was super funny or if the meds kicked in at that point 🤣

Getting closer! Thursday DW gets his port out. Bright and early, a 6am check-in time 🥴. We are excited as this marks the move to the next chapter but also still a little scared, anxious, worried about what the future will hold. Will that fear ever go away? I'm guessing not but hopefully it'll lessen with time. For now, trying ro be in the moment and just be excited for the days ahead!

Took some time to celebrate at Skyzone, though it was a little early for his body we think. He kept hurting his feet which have just been weakened with all the chemo. Still a good day!

We figured this news warranted a separate post from our catch up one 🤪 DW had his first scan this week to confirm whether his cancer is gone or if they would see any new masses. HIS SCANS WERE CLEAR!! 🥳 We were so happy to receive the good news but know it's still a battle. He will have regular scans to make sure everything is good for the next year but he will get his port removed on December 1st!! This has been a long and yet ridiculously fast experience; we are ready for the next chapter. We're overwhelmed with emotion right now but couldn't be happier for our little man.

It has been awhile since we've shared an update. A lot going on here! Daniel had another injury to his head from falling backwards but since he's been done with his final chemo treatment, his stability is getting much better! He got to climb the rock wall during PT and is really practicing hard to strengthen his legs. His hair is coming in beautifully and he has more good days than bad 😍

He had a minor setback when he had to visit the ER a couple weeks ago due to a fever. They had to get his fluids up, gave him antibiotics to which he promptly vomited and then had to stay several more hours until he could get approval to go home. However, after a couple of days he was right as rain.

Everyone was sick at Halloween so we decided a night in would be best. We made a cookie graveyard, carved pumpkins, hunted for candy and prizes, threw a glow stick dance party, and did some legos. 🎃 He was excited to be a vampire t-rex, while Aubrey was a zombie t-rex and little Huddy was a marshmallow 🦖🤍🦖

DW had his final chemo this week! 🥳🥳 He got his ankle braces and thinks they're meh (mixed thumb reviews 😄). He got a special song and got to ring the gong twice! (He went with one loud and one quiet). They said they usually have a lot of staff sing but they knew he was shy and he said he only wanted them (his usual folks). Even that made him nervous ☺️ They brought him some cool presents and a wonderful card! He even got to help with his blood work this time. It's been a rough 24 hours post chemo but we are just so grateful this part is behind us!

It's been a few days and he's doing pretty well! Back at school today and plans to go tomorrow 😁 back in his room tonight too since the nausea has passed 🙌 thank you all for the well wishes and prayers!

Daniel Westley has slept so much. He only threw up a couple times throughout the night but we caught it every time so no mess! He slept for about 14 hours, got up for about 4 hours and is back asleep. No appetite still so hoping I can coax him the next time he wakes up with anything really. I'll even give the guy a cookie! Hopefully he feels well enough for school tomorrow and to see his friends. He got some play time today with a visit from our dear friend Esther and her youngest so that was special for him ☺️

Ok friends and family! What a ride! It's been a couple busy weeks for us as we settle into our new home. DW has been doing pretty well! Now that he's back in school, he's made a couple friends! He started PT for his neuropathy and will be getting ankle braces next week. Couldn't come soon enough! He tripped over his feet last week and got a big goose egg on his forehead. Fell so hard that his shoes fell off! No concussion though.

This week's chemo has gone on as planned even though everyone is sick, we just stayed in isolation. Getting excited as we near the finish line! Just talked about scheduling his post chemo scans and it finally feels like an end to this nightmare that should never happen to anyone. DW is excited for Halloween coming up and knows that signals an end to chemo 💚🥳

This week has been a tough one for DW. We thought he was just down to one chemo type but he has to do both for the rest of his treatment plan. He got a special treat from Starbucks when we were done 😁 First week of school and he only got to go for a day and a half.

Some kids on the playground asked him about his hair and it upset him. He said he cried for the rest of recess and then for a bit of lunch time but a teacher was able to help him so he didn't need mom after all.

His nausea was off the charts, normally it's not so bad but it lasted for several days this time. Fortunately he's feeling better now 🙌 only 6 more weeks of treatment 🥳

Ok it's been a bit since we posted an update. DW had a new challenge last week with some additional bleeding but after tests were done we at least learned his numbers were good enough he didn't need a transfusion. So silver lining? It was tough on everybody, but amidst the challenges he still got ready for kindergarten and gets to go to school next week!

We're in the process of moving to Washington so he is going to a new school and gets to make new friends and have a backyard to play in!

This week is going well so far! Fingers crossed everything goes smooth 🤞
