On Track OSHU! Chiloquin Junior/Senior High School students, along with On Track students from Mazama High School, on Tuesday met with faculty and students from the OHSU School of Nursing, Klamath Falls campus, toured the facility, and participated in rotations where they practiced hands-on nursing skills.

Stations the students visited included blood pressure and general vital signs checking, burn cleaning and dressing, hand washing, Narcan, pregnancy and baby mannequin simulation, impaired vision simulation, and the simulation theater, where students learned how to control and interact with patient mannequins. The students also had the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session with nursing students to learn about their journeys in college and their chosen healthcare pathways.

Created in 2013, On Track OHSU! works with Oregon middle and high schools to increase the number of students from underrepresented minority background in the health sciences and in Oregon's biomedical workforce. At KCSD, On Track works with students at Chiloquin and Mazama high schools.
