On Friday the PT department engaged in a PTDay of Service. Each student, employee, and alumni that participated spent some of their day with a community partner to engage in a service project. Everyone came together for lunch, PT trivia, and connecting. Everyone had a great time. This sparked interests so they engage in activities through the Office of Service Learning.

This week, UNE celebrated the start of the new semester with the annual fun run on the Biddeford campus! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

The Physical Therapy Department sported custom t-shirts designed by Grace Makley (thank you, Grace!). 🦴🦴

We are looking forward to welcoming students back next week! 🎉

Last weekend, second year DPT students hosted a social gathering. Nothing says summer better than a potluck in Portland's Eastend!

Students finish up the semester this week and embark on their first clinicals in September. 👏☀️

Today, the second year DPT students finished their summer clinical education seminar course, preparing them to start clinicals in the fall. Our esteemed clinical instructor panel provided advice, words of wisdom, and reflections from their own experiences to wish students a successful start of CP1 next month. 👏

Last week UNE faculty and students volunteered at the iCan Bike camp contributing over 100 volunteer hours to help kids with disabilities learn to ride a two wheel bike!

Great night for the Maine APTA PT Night Out and UNE Alumni and Student gathering. Everyone had a great time networking and the Trivia game was intense and fun!

Some of the 3rd year DPT Students spent their Saturday volunteering for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Great Strides Walk at Ft William’s park in Cape Elizabeth. Service and Advocacy are also part of a PT’s job, and these students are off to a great start. Students helped with many aspects of the event and even provided some entertainment 🦸🏻‍♂️!

Yesterday, second year DPT students practiced infant handling and NICU skills with the simulation babies and dolls…everything from diaper changes to swaddling! Who knew that those skills were part of the PT’s scope of practice in Pediatrics?! 👶🏼

DPT and PA Classes of 2026 along with GAPSA are putting on a Casino Night to raise money for the Marquette Challenge. Join us April 18th starting at 6 PM in Innovation for games, drinks, and fun. Dress code date night/cocktail attire.
The Marquette Challenge is a student-led annual fundraiser through the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research that makes Physical Therapy grants, scholarships, and fellowships possible.
