Greater Portland Health

Greater Portland Health Caring for the whole community since 2009 Greater Portland Health is one of nineteen Federally Qualified Health Centers in Maine.

Greater Portland Health's mission is to provide high-quality, patient-centered healthcare that is accessible, affordable, and culturally sensitive. We provide a multitude of services including primary care, dental care, mental health care, chronic disease management, healthcare support, and counseling & education. We offer a discounted/sliding fee schedule based on family size and income. Greater Portland Health will never deny access to services for the following reasons:

- Because an individual is unable to pay for health care services.
- Because payment for those services would be made under Medicare, Medicaid, or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
- Because of an individual’s race, color, s*x, age, national origin, disability, religion, gender identity or s*xual orientation. We serve the Greater Portland community through our 16 health centers. Our vision is a healthy community in which everyone has access to integrated, culturally-inclusive, affordable, and high-quality health care services promoting physical and emotional wellness. Please visit our website for more information about our services and locations. Disclaimer: Any recommendations given here are not substitutes for medical help. Please consult your physician with medical questions. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 9-1-1.

Yesterday, Greater Portland Health hosted Governor Janet Mills, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, and community members for a roundtable discussion about how expiring Affordable Care Act tax credits would affect Mainers. Mainers could see health insurance costs skyrocket — some will be expected to pay tens of thousands of dollars in 2026. Our CEO, Ann Tucker, discussed how GPH will continue caring for community members, no matter their insurance choices

For National Health Center Week’s Partner Appreciation Day, we would like to highlight a few of our many community partners who help make our community a safer and healthier place. Shout-out some of your favorite community organizations in the comments!

Maine Needs is a community-based organization providing Maine families including our patients with clothing, baby items, back-to-school supplies, kitchen items, shoes, sleeping bags and tents, and many other essentials.

Community Doulas provides many of our patients with doula services, including labor support and community connections, to improve birth outcomes in Maine. With a sliding fee scale, they ensure all patients can receive doula services regardless of ability to pay.

Through our partnership with the Portland Housing Authority, we bring healthcare directly to public housing communities at Sagamore Village, Riverton Park, and Franklin Towers. Their efforts bring safe and affordable housing to our community.

Preble Street’s numerous programs and advocacy efforts improve the lives of those in our community experiencing homelessness. We partner with them on many projects, including our 934 Congress Street health center.

City of Portland, Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services goal to enhance the health and well-being of Portland community members aligns with our mission to bring high-quality, patient-centered care to all.

We are honored and proud to work with such wonderful community partners!

As we continue our National Health Center Week celebration, today's theme is Health Conditions Focus Day! Diabetes, Hypertension, HIV, LTBI, behavioral health, and maternal health are among the many condition-focused programs we offer to support our patients and community.

We were honored to receive 64 blood pressure cuffs donated by American Heart Association - Maine and Northern Light Health. Our team, including Anthony and Emma photographed, will educate patients on how to self-measure their blood pressure at home using these cuffs. These will aid hypertension diagnosis and treatment while empowering patients to take charge of their cardiovascular health.
