Betty Malone Farley Harper
March 15, 1945 – July 29, 2025
Betty Malone Farley Harper, age 80, of Portland, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord on July 29, 2025.
Born on March 15, 1945, Betty lived a life marked by faith, love, and quiet strength. She graduated with honors from Carson Newman University and spent many years teaching elementary school, pouring her heart into the lives of countless children.
A devoted follower of Christ, Betty loved the Lord deeply, studied His Word faithfully, and joyfully taught a ladies’ Sunday school class for many years. Her life was a living testimony of grace and godliness, and her influence continues to ripple through the lives of her family and friends.
Betty found great joy in raising her two daughters with Quinnie, and they created a home filled with love, warmth, and welcome. Her presence was a steady light — gentle, wise, and full of encouragement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Mary Ann Farley, and her brother, Mike Farley. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Quinnie Bush Harper III; her sister and brother-in-law, Anne Gayle and Robert Smith; her daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Randy McReynolds, and Amanda and Kevin Kelly; four beloved grandchildren, Alex McReynolds (Annika McReynolds), Charis McReynolds, Kendal McReynolds Johnson (Stephen Johnson), and Camden McReynolds; and two great-grandchildren, Eddison McReynolds and Theodore McReynolds.
The Evangelical Institute in Greenville, SC has been a meaningful part of the Harper family’s lives, sharing the gospel and providing biblical training for believers and missionaries all over the world by emphasizing a personal walk with Jesus Christ. One of Betty’s granddaughters and her husband currently serve on staff there.

Betty was deeply loved, and she is profoundly missed. Her family rejoices that she is with the Lord she so faithfully followed, even as they grieve, though not as those without hope.
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
— Ephesians 3:20–21
