Why does your lipstick 💄 or lipgloss get that weird white spots?

It’s called fat bloom — here’s what you NEED to know!

Fat bloom happens when the fat in butter—usually cocoa or shea butter—separates out and crystallizes on the surface at cooler temperatures. This causes a whitish, dull, or sometimes streaky coating to appear.

How to recognize fat bloom:
Appearance: A white or grayish film or spots on the surface or in between Essance’s lipstick, lip hydrator, lip balm, or lip gloss. The surface might feel a bit waxy or gritty and often melts when applied directly onto the lips. It doesn’t affect the taste unless it has been sitting around for longer than 8 months.

Why does fat bloom happen?
Improper storage temperature or cooling too quickly while solidifying can cause fat migration from fillings inside the product.
