Last week was our 2026 Spring Expo! The theme of this year’s event was “Excellence Takes the Stage.” Each year, this event continues to grow, indicating the dedication and eagerness to learn of Oregon’s long term care sector. With more than 800 provider registrants, this was our biggest Expo yet! The event was a huge success, filled with great energy and valuable educational trainings. We loved being able to connect with long term care professionals, sponsors, and exhibitors face-to-face. We hope to see everyone in the fall at the OHCA Annual Convention!

Last week, members of the OHCA team attended Delivering Solutions 2025, AHCA/NCAL's Annual Convention. At the event, OHCA staff were able to connect with members and colleagues from other states. We also were able to celebrate OHCA member Sarah Silva of Arete Living, who was sworn in as the NCAL chair, and Chris Mason of Senior Housing Managers, who was honored with the Jan Thayer Pioneer Award by NCAL. Our team was proud to see two of Oregon's long term care professionals being recognized at the national level. Thanks to AHCA/NCAL for hosting such a great event!

Today in Eugene, Sherry Hogan, executive director of Sapphire Health Services 's Mackenzie Manor Memory Care, stood up for Oregon’s seniors at a powerful roundtable with Senator Ron Wyden & Senator Jeff Merkley , Congresswoman Val Hoyle , Representative Julie Fahey , and other Lane County leaders.

She brought the voices of long term care providers, residents, and frontline staff to the table—calling for urgent action to protect Medicaid funding and access across the state. Mackenzie Manor is home to 36 Medicaid-supported seniors in Eugene, and their future depends on strong reimbursement.

OHCA is committed to fighting for the care our elders deserve.

OHCA is proud to support Dream Flights , an organization that is dedicated to honoring military veterans and seniors with the adventure of a lifetime: a flight in a Boeing Stearman biplane. Today, seniors were taking flights from the Aurora Airport.

Last week, we hosted our annual In-Home Care Conference in Tualatin! In-home care providers from across Oregon came together to hear from industry specialists on best practices, regulatory and legal updates, and much more! Thank you so much to Paradigm Senior Services , Thrive Guides , and Vanda Health for supporting this event and sharing your knowledge with attendees.

Thank you to speakers Anthony Kuchulis, Stacey Spelman and Oregon Department of Human Services colleagues, Tabatha Walker, Kaliah Kern, as well as Libby Batlan and Eugenia Liu from OHCA for presenting at this event. We hope to see everyone again next year!

As the 2025 Legislative Session approaches sine die, we wanted to express our gratitude for the hard work of OHCA's government relations team this past few months. Libby Batlan, Meredith Coba, and Phil Bentley have put in countless hours at the Capitol advocating for Oregon's seniors and long term care staff. We also wanted to thank all of our members who were so engaged with OHCA's advocacy this session. None of this would have been possible without you!
